OWINGS MILLS, Md. — After showing great confidence in Tyler Loop throughout the spring and summer, the Ravens have finally brought in competition for the second-year kicker.
A few days after Loop missed two more field goals to cap a lackluster preseason, Baltimore signed veteran kicker Jake Moody to its practice squad. The 2023 third-round pick out of Michigan was waived by Washington on Aug. 18 after being beaten out by Drew Stevens for the Commanders’ kicker job.
Moody, 26, went a combined 19-for-23 on field goal tries and 15-for-16 on extra points over nine games for Washington, Chicago, and the team that drafted him — San Francisco — last season. His time with the 49ers began to unravel in 2024 when Moody went an ugly 24-for-34 on field goals.
Loop went 5-for-8 on field goals with misses from 49, 58, and 51 yards this preseason, which hasn’t made anyone forget his heartbreaking 44-yard miss in Pittsburgh to conclude his rookie season last January.
“I have a lot of confidence in Tyler still,” head coach Jesse Minter said. “Again, he’s had a great training camp. I expect him to be our kicker going into Indianapolis. But I think you’re always trying to just have every scenario covered. That’s what we’re trying to do as a team.”
The 14 other additions to the practice squad Monday were on the Ravens’ preseason roster. Headlining that list was 2024 third-round pick Adisa Isaac, who was waived after being beaten out by undrafted rookie Ethan Burke for the final outside linebacker job on the 53-man roster. Injuries limited Issac to just four games over his first two NFL seasons.

General manager Eric DeCosta was also able to re-sign 2026 seventh-round defensive lineman Rayshaun Benny. Notable returning veterans via the practice squad included safety K’Von Wallace, wide receiver Chris Moore, and cornerback Amani Oruwariye.
With defensive lineman David Olajiga not counting against the 16-man practice squad limit as an international practice player, the Ravens still have two openings to fill.
Interior offensive lineman Corey Bullock was the lone Baltimore cut to be claimed off waivers as he was picked up by Carolina.
