Right Now in Baltimore

Right Now in Baltimore

Search no further for better words of wisdom for David Rubenstein and “Next Chapter” of Orioles baseball in Baltimore

If you want to know the real history of Baltimore baseball, you ask the folks who authored the story of Orioles Magic. Charles Steinberg comes back to Baltimore to hail Larry Lucchino and the real heroes of Camden Yards and saving the Orioles – and offers his best wisdom and native advice to new owner David Rubenstein from his Worcester Woo Sox seat at Polar Park.

How will the “next chapter” of Orioles ownership communicate with traumatized Baltimore fan base?

It's been 18 years since local communication and public relations guru Greg Abel created the "We're Not Gonna Take It" video after Nestor Aparicio led "Free The Birds" to communicate some uncomfortable truths to Peter Angelos. That was September 2006. Now, with David Rubenstein taking over the helm of the Orioles franchise, what do we expect to be better for the fans – other than everything?

The Peter Principles (Ch. 13): Mi$ter Angelo$ & $on$ Network change$ everything for two citie$

Peter G. Angelos threatens MLB and gets his every wish fulfilled in 2005 and the Orioles – and Washington baseball – would never be the same. The story about how MASN lined the family with cash for a generation of awful baseball and even worse television coverage of it.

25 WNST Stories of Glory

"...Time will not dim the glory of YOUR deeds"

WNST STORY OF GLORY No. 9: The power of the WNST Text Service to break and deliver sports news

The founder of WNST is an old news hound who was trained by the best in the business in the 1980s at The News American and The Baltimore Sun. When the internet became a thing at the turn of the century and texting quickly became ubiquitous, Nestor Aparicio asked his listeners to join the WNST Text Service sponsored by Koons Ford of Security Blvd. No spam! Ever. It's been over 18 years since we launched the most trusted source for breaking sports news in Baltimore. What was the big news that you heard first and where were you when you received the text? (And ask Nestor about the time he purposely launched one in the cafeteria at the Ravens' Liars Luncheon with NFL schedule news to watch everyone in the room reach for their phones!)
