EPISODE 228: Tooten discusses his Deep South journey and state of education and race in America

Given the current state of America in the aftermath of the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis and protests on our streets and throughout the world, we will be focusing on race and the future of modern policing moving forward in many of our upcoming June episodes.

Because we haven’t been able to sit down and eat a proper crab cake at Faidley’s at Lexington Market or have some chicken and waffles at State Fare in Catonsville with our guests, we have been doing one longish episode rather than our customary three shorter blocks of conversation.

These upcoming episodes have been purposely lengthy because of the depth of content.  Some of the best and most important conversations we’ve had at Baltimore Positive.

Dr. Tim Tooten is no stranger to Baltimore citizens. The longtime education reporter at WBAL-TV and pastor of Harvest Christian Ministries joined us to tell us about his journey from the Suwannee River near Gainesville, Florida to Baltimore and what he has learned about people.

Clearly, we voted this month. And we hope you voted, too!

We will have a lot of reaction to the elections in the coming days and weeks.

We are all in this together and this is a time to educate, unite and keep each other safe. But we also have some extra time to read and learn and educate ourselves in many ways.

We will continue to produce high-quality, intelligent conversations with thought leaders as our citizens try to readjust to this pandemic during the summer at Baltimore Positive.

Please subscribe to Baltimore Positive and stay with us.

We’ll try to keep you cool.
