I’ve been away for a couple of days and haven’t had a chance to write about the Kentucky Derby.

So, an hour before the race, I needed to vent as a I sit here watching a flawless looking day at Churchill Downs. I’ve been to 7 Kentucky Derbies and it’s by FAR my favorite sports event to attend.

If you’ve never been, you should go. It’s accessible, fun and fits almost any travel budget (you don’t need to spend a lot of money to get in…).

The television coverage (as usual) has been sensational.

I’m insanely jealous right now because I wish I were there today. Did I mention how much I love the Kentucky Derby?

Here are my usual bad picks:

Exacta box: Adriano & Z Fortune.

8

I’d also box and a trifecta of Adriano, Z Fortune, Eight Belles and Big Brown.

I think it’ll be VERY hard for Big Brown to win outta the 20 hole. It hasn’t been done in 75 years.

Back to the great Tom Hammond…

Leibovich: On the swamp and racket of The Big Game and bad government

"It's the best book ever written about the modern National Football League," so says Nestor about Big Game. And that's why we love having its author Mark Leibovich back on when his New England Patriots proudly return to Baltimore for some playoff knockout style football. Now with The Atlantic, the longtime political insider for The New York Times is also heavily immersed in Trumplandia and weighs in on the ongoing Epstein saga and the usual D.C. shenanigans.
