OWINGS MILLS, Md. — Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith addressed the media on Friday for the first time since his July 12 arrest, but didn’t offer specifics on what resulted in him receiving a failure to obey a lawful order by a police officer citation. Smith became the fifth Ravens player to be arrested this offseason when he was charged for misdemeanor disorderly conduct while at the Greene Turtle in Towson. Police have said Smith became argumentative while helping a woman in the bathroom and would not obey orders to leave her alone when medical personnel arrived to treat her. “The incident that occurred is still a legal matter, so I’m not able to discuss that right now,” Smith said in an opening statement at the podium on Friday afternoon. “I’ll gladly talk about football. But, when it’s handled, I will talk about [the incident] and give you my side of the story.” A court date is pending, but Smith insisted that the legal matter will not be a distraction “in the least” as he prepares for his fourth season in Baltimore.
