Did you hear what those fools said on the radio over at 105.7 The Fan?

insulted and wanting to strangle the producer for not screening the calls better. At one point, I had a weekend anchorman threaten to beat up the WNST listeners who wanted to come over to Towson and insult him personally on a Saturday afternoon.

It was like a being a moderator of a bad social media message board – just people yelling to be heard.

Or worse – the new world man’s troll paradise – the anonymous comments at the bottom of a blog post.

It’s junior high garbage.

It’s bad conversation. It’s bad radio. It’s bad mojo.

And I’m not interested in it.

It’s not why I chose to do sports radio in 1991 and it’s not how I want to spend my days in 2015.

I want to do quality sports conversations. That’s how I want to use my time and attract yours.

If you listen to WNST, great – you’ll be very informed and subjected to a wide variety of conversations that I hope you enjoy. That’s how I built my radio show and WNST brand the first 15 years of my career.

And if you’re civil and walking upright, I’m happy to interact in any form of social media that is relevant. It’s impossible to answer every tweet or reply to every thread but my email is always open at nasty@wnst.net.

If you don’t listen, that’s fine, too.

I’ll be here if you ever want to come back to some sense of quality and civility and thought-provoking conversation.

I’m busy “getting right” (as Rod Woodson would say) and learning and improving and educating myself more every day.

I’m doing the best work of my career and I know that what’s on WNST right this minute is a discussion that I’m proud of with quality, accurate, timely information and insights into the current state of Baltimore sports and the world.

We do sports radio for the grown and sexy at WNST.

And the mere fact that I’m writing (and breathing) will piss off a whole wave of people who continue to comment as trolls at the bottom of a social media thread. I don’t really need to have a conversation with them to know their I.Q., intellect or intentions. The spelling and punctuation usually give it away.

And if you can’t spell, I certainly don’t care what you think about Joe Flacco or John Harbaugh.

Honestly, they can call 105.7 The Fan and be part of that noisy, low-information conversation and crowd that I can’t imagine anyone wants to be a part of on a Monday morning after another Ravens loss when they’ve already spent the last 18 hours on the internet seeing a variety of armchair coaches and quarterbacks opining about stuff they have no idea about on their friends and family threads.

ESPN doesn’t take your phone calls.

The Baltimore Sun doesn’t take your phone calls.

Comcast Sports MidAtlantic doesn’t take your phone calls.

And you sure as hell know that MASN isn’t taking any honest interaction that isn’t sanctioned by the King.

I’m a journalist and I’m an entertainer. My role and responsibility is to the truth and serving up quality information and content. My goal is to be compelling enough that you want to tune in regularly.

One of us is writing books, going places, seeing things, doing things and reporting on things. This summer I traveled the world for the bone registry and went to 30 Major League Baseball stadiums to honor my wife and save lives.

I’ve written extensively about that journey in Part 1 and Part 2 of my essay.

On March 2nd, I’ll embark on my second 30-30 #GiveASpit tour – this time it’ll be the #PuckLeukemia tour for awareness that will take me to 30 NHL rinks on a dream trip.

One of us is raising the bar for the quality of the conversation and educating Baltimore sports fans.

One of us is playing video games, watching movies, reality television and making fart jokes.

And introducing topics like this gem earlier this week – while the Ravens are on life support and the Orioles are trying to figure out what to do with the offseason.

Good question on 1057

You either want to listen to the real Led Zeppelin or you want to listen to a cover band. There is a difference.

What I do – and what I’ve done since 1991 – is the gold standard of sports radio and media in Baltimore. I’m the originator and I’m still the best sports radio host and media pundit in the market.

If you listen to my show and any of theirs, you’ll hear it. If you follow me on social media, you’ll see it. If you read my work, you’ll learn about it.

I find it funny that when old news organizations would want to put their hosts or anchors over, they’d show them
