PRESS RELEASE

TOWSON, Md. – Towson University and the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) have announced the 2021 Tiger fall football schedule.

Towson’s return to the gridiron in the fall of 2021 will include five home games, a full CAA slate and the next chapter of the Battle for Greater Baltimore with Morgan State.  The non-conference slate also includes perennial FCS power North Dakota State and FBS foe San Diego State.

All home games will be played at Johnny Unitas® Stadium.  The schedule has been formulated by the CAA to assist with travel during the COVID pandemic.  All game times and promotions will be announced at a future date.

The CAA announced the 2021 fall football schedules for all members on Wednesday morning.

Don’t miss the return to live football this fall: season tickets for 2021 are now on sale! Contact Joshua Behringer in the Towson ticket office at 410-704-3330 or jbehringer@towson.edu for more information.

The 2021 campaign begins with the next chapter of the Battle for Greater Baltimore four miles from campus at Morgan State on Sept. 4.  Towson currently holds the Battle for Greater Baltimore trophy having won 36-10 in Baltimore in 2018.

The next week on Sept. 11, Towson heads north to play New Hampshire for the first meeting against the Wildcats since 2017, beginning CAA play.

Towson’s home opener will be against eight-time FCS champion North Dakota State on Sept. 18.  Towson and NDSU meet for the first time since battling in the 2014 FCS Championship.

The Tigers head to Carson, California on Sept. 25 to take on FBS opponent San Diego State.  Not counting 2020, it is the 13th straight year that Towson will take on an FBS foe.

The remainder of the regular season will be against CAA opponents, beginning with a pair of home games.  Towson hosts Stony Brook on Oct. 9, then Rhode Island on Oct. 16.  Towson and Stony Brook have met each year since 2013 while the Tigers rematch vs. Rhode Island for the first time since 2017.

The team’s lone road game in the month of October is a trip to William & Mary on the 23rd, Towson’s first of three games in the state of Virginia and continuing a matchup since 2011.

Towson returns home to take on 2019 FCS playoff participant UAlbany on Oct. 30, the third straight fall season the two face off.

Heading back to Virginia, the Black & Gold take on Richmond in the state capital on Nov. 6, playing for the first time since 2017.
