thoughts and words, which is also a byproduct of the sheer volume of medications she’s got coursing through her veins.

The doctors and nurses said that this “DKA” would’ve absolutely kicked her ass had she been at 100% normal and healthy before the leukemia returned. Meanwhile, Jenn began this week with zero neutrophils and now has them, which is the initial measurement that her body is recovering from the chemotherapy.

So, amidst this frightening episode that she’s slowly awakening from today and will be for several more days, there is also a nice batch of very good news as well – once she fully recovers from the aftermath of this traumatic event.

Her neutrophils and immune system are indeed coming back with real strength, and if not for this DKA issue, she was slated to be coming home from the hospital today. Her last two days of neutrophils have been 580 and 650, which are ordinarily strong enough to exit The Hotel. However, she hasn’t eaten a solid meal in six days and really hasn’t eaten much at all over the past few weeks. So they want her to regain some strength and weight before they can entertain thoughts of sending her home to Kitty.

Also, we received word from the doctors that November 18th is our new date for the lymphocyte infusion from her genetic twin and angel in Germany. She will not need to check back into The Hotel for that event. It will be an outpatient infusion.

We’re doing our best to get her out of the hospital but are remaining patient and vigilant in doing everything to keep her safe and strong.

It’s always “hour to hour’ here in managing her condition.

The doctors are very encouraged by her count recovery and her blood looks stronger every day. Part of the neutrophils returning and her body producing white blood cells again means a major dose of fatigue and rest.

Recovery = rest.

She probably won’t be online much for a few days but she’s stable and more than a bit woozy.

Podcasts, Pearl Jam passion and the present tense with The Mayne Event

They met on the backstretch at Pimlico three decades ago and The Mayne Event always returns and never disappoints for sports, comedy, charity and why Eddie Vedder shouldn't trust Nestor. Longtime ESPNer Kenny Mayne checks in for another round of tales of wiffle ball with Ken Griffey, podcasts with the other Manning and still being pissed off about the Sonics (and Pilots) departure from Seattle.

These milestones continue to add up as the 25th anniversary of the Baltimore Ravens' Super Bowl XXXV win is coming later this month and Nestor is catching up with many of the Purple Reign legacies about life – on and off the field – as we celebrate the night we all felt the civic pride of that first miracle in Tampa. Reflections here with the man who coached Jamal Lewis, Priest Holmes, Sam Gash and Femi Ayanbadejo a quarter of a century ago.

The Ravens weren't good enough on the field

Firing the head coach and changing leadership will certainly create an interesting offseason in Owings Mills. No one covers the Xs and Os of the NFL like Mike Tanier of Too Deep Zone. The one-time geometry teacher of Joe Flacco joins Nestor to discuss the depth and salary cap numbers of the Baltimore Ravens roster and the structural changes Eric DeCosta will need even after Steve Bisciotti finds a new captain to lead Lamar Jackson.
