And The Knee, while understood by many in the universe as a righteous symbol of social justice, will always be construed by some as anti-American, anti-military, anti-police, anti-flag and anti-everything red, white and blue.

To my eyes and ears and intellect, it wasn’t any of those things. It was, quite clearly, anti-Trump.

This is a massive departure from the original message of Colin Kaepernick’s knee, which was about police brutality in the black community. Quite frankly, I was far more offended by his pig socks and the mouthy girlfriend’s Instagram slave owner tweets than I was The Knee, which I think reflects humility and respect as recommended by his friend who was a soldier who served in the Middle East.

So, on Kapernick, I’m conflicted and I wouldn’t sign him to play for my football team. But there’s no doubt he’s been blackballed. But I also understand why he’d be toxic for a coach or a franchise at this point just as a distraction alone.

But, I also saw 10 football teams this season he would’ve unquestionably made better – two this week alone in Cleveland and Indianapolis.

So, if you are one of the group who has ripped down all of the purple stuff in your man cave and your seat has been empty and will be abandoned forever or your PSL gifted away to the Ravens in the offseason, then I’m not sure anything I say or write will change that.
