The Orioles have finalized their 2025 coaching staff by adding two familiar names to the mix.

Baltimore announced former major league catcher Robinson Chirinos will serve as manager Brandon Hyde’s bench coach — replacing Fredi Gonzalez — while Triple-A Norfolk manager Buck Britton will now serve as a major league coach. The Orioles also confirmed the reported promotion of offensive strategy coach Cody Asche to hitting coach and the addition of Tommy Joseph as assistant hitting coach as they replace former co-hitting coaches Matt Borgschulte and Ryan Fuller.

Chirinos, 40, finished his 11-year playing career with the Orioles in 2022 and has long been regarded as a future coach and potential major league manager. He was a popular veteran leader in the clubhouse as the rebuilding Orioles turned the corner midway through that a 2022 campaign to finish with their first winning season since 2016. Chirinos also served as a mentor to catcher Adley Rutschman during his rookie campaign and had a stint as a guest coach in Sarasota this past March.

The 38-year-old Britton is the older brother of former Orioles pitcher Zack Britton and has served as a manager in Baltimore’s farm system since 2018. Britton spent the last three years managing the Tides, meaning he has a strong rapport with the many young players who’ve since graduated to the majors. After concluding a nine-year minor-league playing career spent mostly in the Orioles’ system, he began his coaching career in 2017 before managing Single-A Delmarva a year later and going on to become Double-A Bowie’s manager from 2019-21.

Joseph, 33, spent his first season as a major league coach serving as Seattle’s assistant hitting coach this past year. Prior to that, he coached in the minors for San Francisco and the New York Mets and also played in the majors for two seasons with Philadelphia (2016-17).

Hyde, 51, is entering his seventh season as manager and will aim to become the first Baltimore skipper since Earl Weaver to guide the club to three consecutive postseason appearances, something the Orioles haven’t done since winning three straight American League pennants from 1969 through 1971.

Tim Cossins will return for his seventh season as major league field coordinator and catching instructor while Drew French and Mitch Plassmeyer return as pitching coach and assistant pitching coach respectively for their second season. Tony Mansolino will begin his fifth season as third base coach, and Anthony Sanders will enter his sixth year as first base coach.
