In our continuing effort to discuss ways to improve life in Baltimore, once again we’ve found the road to prosperity in the Charm City still goes through Washington, D.C. and major decisions being made – or not made – in Congress. Our guest this week has been heavily involved in many debates recently involving Elijah Cummings and the President of The United States about our community.

In the wake of more gun violence in America, our Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen joined us for a spirited conversation about guns, America and the fractured state of Congress in a world of Trump. This is the first of a three-part chat that meandered into every aspect of our daily lives and how our local representatives in D.C. are struggling to create the changes that citizens want and deserve.

We dove in on a variety of topics over a long hour that we hope you’ll listen to and react.

Our #BaltimorePositive schedule has picked up and our calendar is getting full. Please join us soon:

THURSDAY, AUGUST 15 (new guest): David Hornbeck will discuss a life in education and helping children with us at Faidley’s in Lexington Market at 11am

THURSDAY, AUGUST 22: U.S. Senator Ben Cardin joins us at State Fare in Catonsville at 9am for a breakfast chat

THURSDAY, AUGUST 29: Legendary sports agent Ron Shapiro joins us for a crab cake at Faidley’s in Lexington Market at 11 a.m. (We will show him how to pick a crab, “Catonsville style”)

FRIDAY, AUGUST 30: Former NAACP President Ben Jealous at State Fare in Catonsville at 9am for a breakfast chat

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 5 (new date): Reverend Al Hathaway will join us for a crab cake at Faidley’s at Lexington Market at 11 a.m. (We will show him how to pick a crab, “Catonsville” style”)

We want to thank all of our sponsors, supporters and friends who have allowed this Baltimore Positive platform and movement to become part of your lives and routine. And thank you for sharing our conversations with your community and world!

We also want to recognize the partnership at Center Maryland the Building Equity: Education Equity And Affordable Housing Conference for their support in being Baltimore Positive!

The June reset for Orioles begins at Fenway

We've seen better baseball from the Baltimore Orioles over the past two weeks and after a 7-3 homestand with some walkoffs and walkovers, Luke Jones and Nestor give the Birds a June "reset" as they head to Fenway Park and then to Skydome in Toronto to tackle more of the AL East, where they hope to make up ground as a sub .500 squad thus far.

When the world lost the outsized spirit that was Arthur Donovan, Nestor turned the WNST airwaves into a public eulogy for the Hall of Fame defensive lineman and Baltimore legend. Another Hall of Famer, Raymond Berry, joined in for the memories and kind words for 'Fatso' and the rest of the Baltimore Colts legends and their legacy in the Charm City and what it meant to catch passes from Johnny Unitas at Memorial Stadium.
