8. RB Ray Rice (second round, 2008)
The sour taste of his 2013 campaign and a disturbing domestic incident earlier this offseason don’t diminish how important Rice has been to the organization as the last player Newsome has drafted to be named to a Pro Bowl. Rice ranks third on the franchise list in receptions and second in rushing yards as he’s proven to be the best all-around threat out of the backfield in team history.
Fans have often mocked Flacco’s tendency to check down to his running back on many passing plays, but Rice’s fourth-and-29 conversion against the San Diego Chargers in 2012 goes down as one of the most exciting plays in franchise history. The three-time Pro Bowl selection was a steal as the 55th overall selection in the 2008 draft and a major reason why the Ravens made five consecutive playoff appearances that culminated with a win in Super Bowl XLVII.
