Adam Lambert Nestor Aparicio

In the summer of 2009 when the “American Idol” craze took over our country, the touring troop came through Baltimore to play the Arena. Nestor Aparicio sat down with most of that season’s crew before the local show but it turns out that Adam Lambert would be the biggest star of them all and now returns to the Charm City as the longtime lead singer of Queen.

Nestor Aparicio interviews a musician about his experiences, including performing in Baltimore and touring. The musician, originally from Indianapolis, moved to San Diego at a young age and has a preference for European travel, particularly Germany. He discusses his diverse musical influences and performances, including Led Zeppelin, Muse, and a David Bowie medley. The musician emphasizes his control over arrangements and costumes, aiming for unique and memorable performances. Looking ahead, he mentions an upcoming album in November, blending current and retro styles. Nestor praises the musician’s versatility and predicts his success.

Nestor Aparicio  00:00

If you love Baltimore sports, you will love wnst.net, some say he should have been the winner. I don’t know that there were any losers. Adam Lambert here in Baltimore, in the Charm City, crab cakes. No,

Adam Lambert  00:13

we don’t really get to do anything else. Kind of locked in for the rest of the day. You

Nestor Aparicio  00:19

don’t realize that when you sign up, like, what?

00:21

No Where do you ever

Nestor Aparicio  00:22

perform. Really, can you come tours or stuff like that?

00:24

I have, but touring with theater is different, because we would go to, like, a major city and stay here for a couple weeks. I’ve never done that. Now, sure, yeah, and I love that. I love traveling.

Nestor Aparicio  00:33

What’s your favorite place?

00:35

Europe? Okay, where? Yeah, Germany. Mostly I’m talking about

Nestor Aparicio  00:39

World Cups, American, American Idol.

00:46

I also enjoyed Chicago. That was cool. Chicago a while back, that was awesome.

Nestor Aparicio  00:50

Were you born Indianapolis?

00:52

I was born in Indianapolis, but my parents moved me to San Diego when I was about

Nestor Aparicio  00:55

a year old. Those are smart parents, so you never spend any time in Indianapolis, really, because I saw you were born, I saw you were born, I was making sure you weren’t a COVID fan. It’s a bad thing for Baltimore. From the sports song, I’m

01:05

not a sports fan. I

Nestor Aparicio  01:09

did the research, so we’re gonna talk music with you, dude. I mean, we started watching perform, and it was just week after week you change. I have no idea if I came here, I’d see the show, what you would perform, because to me, you can kind of perform anything new, right?

01:22

What are you doing tonight? Yeah, I start with you. I start out with some Led Zeppelin, a lot of love. There’s a couple that we reprise from the show to give the people what they saw that world is reprise my duet with Allison freeze.

Nestor Aparicio  01:36

And then I saw fog at here you

01:39

did, hey.

Nestor Aparicio  01:40

Really,

01:44

I look young,

Nestor Aparicio  01:48

good for you. I like it looking good. And

01:55

then I do a song by muse, which is a contemporary water rock band, and I do a David Bowie

Nestor Aparicio  02:01

medley says,

02:05

No doing life on Mars, okay, fame and let’s dance, yeah. And we’re kind of doing it with, like, a lot of modern synth production, so it kind of gives it our updated feel.

Nestor Aparicio  02:15

I have a feeling that you were controlling the band more than maybe some of the other performers. Wanted to show just the off the way the agent songs were wrong,

02:25

controlling because Ricky minor, you had an idea though. Yeah, it was. There was a lot of collaboration opportunities on the show that I think maybe certain people either took advantage of or didn’t. And something that I just kind of identified pretty early on was, well, there’s no harm in asking for something and seeing what they’ll say. So I tried to work it to the best way, but

Nestor Aparicio  02:42

not just like, I guess some people were like, Paula, would be more choreography. To me, you were about arrangement and you were about your costume. And I had a feeling it was all you that there was, yeah, I was trying

02:52

to kind of put my stamp on everything. I’d make it like a number, make it like, you know, between the way it looked and the way it sounded and the way it was, like staged and lit like I wanted it to be me. I wanted to stand out every week. So what’s the

Nestor Aparicio  03:04

future for you? Because I got to ask you that. And at the end of all this, a few weeks into this, has it been what you expected it to be?

03:10

It’s it’s intense, it’s a lot more work than I thought I was going to be, to be honest with you, but it’s, but it’s also far more rewarding than I expected it to be, in what way seeing the people that are so enthusiastic and passionate about what we do that put us where we are. Show people that voted. It’s really nice to be able to connect with them and give them a live show and meet them before and after the show, because it reminds you of why it worked and why the results were what they were. And the future for me is November. My album’s coming out, and it’s gonna be dope. It’s gonna be great.

Nestor Aparicio  03:41

It’s gonna be dope. It’s gonna be it’s gonna be a little

03:44

bit of everything. It’ll be really current and modern and hip. But are also, like, not to 70s and 80s rock classics and, like New Wave stuff from 80s as well. There’s gonna be a there’s a lot of influences on it.

Nestor Aparicio  03:56

The thing I said to her the week before, I said he should do kiss for the finale, and boom, there it is. Really, I’m not a web guy or reading up on it was just that was perfect

04:03

for you. Man, great. That was cool. That was really, it’s really nice to meet you.

Nestor Aparicio  04:07

Good luck to you. My pleasure. Thank you. No losers in American. If you love Baltimore sports, you’ll love W N, S t.net, you.
