A day after being released from his reserve-future contract with the Ravens, defensive lineman Ufomba Kamalu was arrested on a domestic violence charge in Pikesville on Thursday.
Baltimore County Police responded to the 1700 block of Reisterstown Road Wednesday morning after receiving a call for a reported domestic assault. Officers spoke with the victim and determined she sustained a “visible” injury after an argument between her and Kamalu escalated to a physical altercation in which he assaulted her. Kamalu wasn’t present when officers initially responded, so a warrant was issued for his arrest and served Thursday morning.
The 27-year-old was charged with second-degree assault and released on $20,000 bond.
Signed off New England’s practice squad in late October, Kamalu was waived and re-signed to Baltimore’s practice squad a few weeks later and didn’t appear in a game with the Ravens. The 6-foot-6, 295-pound defensive lineman signed a reserve-future deal in January and has appeared in 15 games in his four-year career, collecting three sacks and 12 tackles.
In addition to the Ravens and Patriots, the University of Miami product also had stints with Houston and Arizona earlier in his career.
