Former Ravens running back Lorenzo Taliaferro died at the age of 28 in Williamsburg, Virginia on Wednesday.

The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office confirmed the death of the 2014 fourth-round pick from Coastal Carolina who played three seasons with Baltimore. A family member told WBFF-TV FOX 45 that Taliaferro had died of a heart attack.

The 6-foot, 229-pound back showed promise as a rookie before various injuries derailed his career. Taliaferro rushed for a career-high 91 yards and a touchdown against Cleveland in his third career game, but he appeared in just 19 contests over three seasons, finishing with 339 yards and five touchdowns. He finished each of his three campaigns with Baltimore on injured reserve.

After moving to fullback, Taliaferro was cut at the end of the 2017 preseason. He also spent a brief time with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL.
