OWINGS MILLS, Md. — Trying to regroup from their first 0-2 start in nine years ahead of a challenging trip to Dallas, the Ravens hit the practice field with some prominent players missing on Wednesday.

Head coach John Harbaugh said “it’s not anything major” among those sitting out for injury-related reasons, but safety Kyle Hamilton headlined the list of absentees as he deals with a back issue. It’s been a quiet start to the season for the 2023 first-team All-Pro selection, who appeared to be laboring at a couple points during the Week 2 loss to Las Vegas. Hamilton played every defensive snap, finishing with six tackles and being credited with two quarterback pressures by Pro Football Focus.

Left tackle Ronnie Stanley also sat out with what was listed as an ankle issue, but head coach John Harbaugh made clear that Stanley’s Week 3 status isn’t in doubt. It’s been a refreshingly healthy start to 2024 for the 30-year-old Stanley, who has played very well despite some well-documented penalties over the first two games.

“We’re working through that with Ronnie. He will be out there Sunday — I can tell you that,” Harbaugh said. “I don’t mind telling you that right now.”

Veteran outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy (eye/groin) and rookie cornerback Nate Wiggins (neck/concussion) also missed Wednesday’s practice. The latter was deactivated for the home opener after being involved in a car accident last week.

Cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis and offensive lineman Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu were absent for personal reasons on Wednesday.

“We had a few guys with personal issues, family issues — babies and surgeries and stuff like that with their family, ” Harbaugh said. “A couple of guys have some things from the game that we didn’t want to practice them today. That’s where we’re at, and you’ll see the injury report.”

Leivovich: On the swamp and racket of The Big Game and bad government

"It's the best book ever written about the modern National Football League," so says Nestor about Big Game. And that's why we love having its author Mark Leibovich back on when his New England Patriots proudly return to Baltimore for some playoff knockout style football. Now with The Atlantic, the longtime political insider for The New York Times is also heavily immersed in Trumplandia and weighs in on the ongoing Epstein saga and the usual D.C. shenanigans.

Hail, hail Halethorpe! A Honey of a spot to shoot pool, watch the game and taste fresh flavor

This stands as a warning to anyone who invites Nestor by their place for the Maryland Crab Cake Tour: you're an invite and a taste away because he's en route to meet more great local folks who want to promote their business. Owner Soo Mi Kang of Honey's in Halethorpe invited us over and must've known that offering "Crabby Toast" would invoke the legend of Charles Markwood Eckman. Competitive billiards, great food and the game is always on at this old-school joint on the south side.
