Raising eyebrows after failing his first attempt at the conditioning test earlier this week, Ravens wide receiver Jacoby Jones has reportedly passed it on the second try.
According to an NFL Network report, the 29-year-old is now eligible to practice as the Ravens gather for their first full-team workout of training camp on Thursday afternoon.
John Harbaugh didn’t sound overly concerned about Jones’ hiccup when asked about it on Tuesday, expressing confidence that the Pro Bowl return specialist would pass it when given a second opportunity. However, the Ravens coach also wasn’t giving Jones a free pass after he was placed on the non-football injury list, which clearly sent a message to the “Dancing With the Stars” contestant.
“He’s really close on it,” Harbaugh said. “Never make any excuses for him — he should pass it — but he was traveling and things like that. We’ll see. It’s up to him. It’s his job to do. That’s the fact. Facts are stubborn things.”
Jones will compete for Baltimore’s second starting receiver job opposite Torrey Smith this season.
The Ravens announced Thursday morning that safety Anthony Levine has been placed on the active physically unable to perform list, joining inside linebacker Jameel McClain (neck) and right guard Marshal Yanda (shoulder) as players currently sidelined. Rookie defensive end Kapron Lewis-Moore (knee) remains on the non-football injury list.
