OWINGS MILLS, Md. — Finally turning their attention to the Cincinnati Bengals by returning to the practice field, the Ravens were without their emotional defensive leader for Wedneday’s workout.
Future Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Lewis was absent from the portion of practice open to the media as the Ravens worked indoors with rainy weather prevalent in Owings Mills. It is unknown whether Lewis suffered an injury in Sunday’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks, but the 36-year-old linebacker spoke to the media prior to practice and gave no indication of being injured.

Defensive tackle Arthur Jones and running back Anthony Allen were also absent from the field during the open portion of practice. Jones suffered a concussion in the loss to the Seahawks and was not permitted to talk to reporters due to the league’s concussion policy. The second-year defensive lineman was wearing sunglasses in the locker room, an indication that his eyes might be sensitive to light like his teammate Tom Zbikowski dealt with after sustaining a concussion last month.
Allen continues to deal with a thigh injury that has lingered for several weeks. The rookie was ruled out before sitting out Sunday’s game in Seattle.
Wide receiver Lee Evans (left ankle) and linebacker Dannell Ellerbe (hamstring) were both practicing on Wednesday after each sat out against the Seahawks despite practicing on a limited basis all last week.
Referee Ron Winter and his crew will officiate Sunday’s game between the Ravens and Bengals.
