The confident receiver hopes to be the next great Hurricane to suit up in purple and thrive for the Ravens.
“What I know from Baltimore is the guys from the University of Miami, guys like Ray Lewis and Ed Reed,” Streeter said. “A defensive mentality — a hard-nosed football team — [and] tough, explosive guys on both sides of the field. I’m just glad that I can be part of this organization and hopefully I can add more to what they have.”
Streeter will compete for the No. 3 receiver spot with second-year receivers Tandon Doss and LaQuan Williams during training camp. He plans to work hard on his route-running as well as getting stronger between now and the start of the preseason.
Doss and Williams will own the advantage in experience with a year already under their belt, but Streeter’s physical gifts give him the distinct edge in a department the Ravens have looked to improve for years. And the Miami rookie will try to build on that size and speed to not only secure a roster spot but become a dangerous target for which opposing defenses will have to account.
“It all comes down to me against you, that one-on-one matchup,” Streeter said. “You know it’s coming. All you can do is pray to the Lord or something to give you that extra boost of help because it’s coming.”
The Ravens certainly hope so.
