sons. No one at the Baltimore Orioles ever stands up and answers questions.

No one in the local media has any recollection of Angelos taking legitimate questions at an open press conference. Ever. And no one at MASN is ever heard from outside of a court of law.

This is what happens when you ask the Orioles top executive about the MASN money – at my lame alma mater, the University of Baltimore, that proudly trumpets the Angelos name on the front of the building on Charles Street:

And make no mistake about it, there’s been plenty said and hours billed by high-priced attorneys in this maelstrom of litigation regarding what’s been termed “The MASN money.” The sheer volume of information and the muddy trail of facts, accusations, appeals and hearings have been hard to follow. This information clearly befuddles the local media that is charged with deciphering this trail of cable television green. I read their work. Many times, it’s patently inaccurate. And the coverage is scant except for a few national writers like Eric Fisher, John Ourand and Maury Brown who cover it for major sports business entities and try to interpret what it all means and how it compares to the rest of the industry and the media world.

But, until now, no one amalgamated the math and presented it with clarity, history and documented facts. It is my goal to do that with this series.

Locally and politically, it’s much like the world of shady dictatorship from a media standpoint – well-orchestrated, state run, and the good boys and girls in the local media all take their checks in a “partnership” from Mr. Angelos and keep their mouths shut – like good little media partners.

Where is the Rubenstein and Arougheti commitment to winning for Orioles fans?

It's a murky picture throughout Major League Baseball as the Winter Meetings begin and Eric Fisher of Front Office Sports returns to discuss the state of the game, on and off the field.
