There is no substitute for experience.
Martin O’Malley brings as much wisdom in managing local government as any guest we could hope for on Baltimore Positive and we went well into overtime in three magnificent segments with the former Governor of Maryland and Mayor of Baltimore at Faidley’s Seafood at Lexington Market.
This was a no-holds-barred chat with a legendary local leader.
And it wasn’t intentionally our longest chat through nearly 130 episodes. We simply just couldn’t stop asking questions and eliciting answers.
(For the record: Nestor called his wife after this chat on the way home from Faidley’s and told her it was one of the best chats he’s ever had on the radio in more than 35,000 hours of local conversations on AM 1570!)
First up, it’s O’Malley’s march to finish his book on “Smarter Government” and how he hopes it’s a textbook on the do’s and don’ts of governing in the modern era.
We’ll get to fixing Baltimore and improving Maryland and politics and Trump and Hogan in our second chat. And in our third segment, we’ll hear a chunky back and forth about the death penalty and his chance chat with Ken Cuccinelli in Washington, D.C. and his name in the news in recent months.
His most important words continue to be about the future of the Chesapeake Bay and his primer on making our local environment better. And as always with O’Malley – measuring it!
NEXT WEEK: Retiring Maryland State Senator Bobby Zirkin joined us at Jennings Cafe in Catonsville for a wide-ranging conversation about sports, state government and the future of Baltimore.
Plenty of fresh and relevant conversation coming your way in 2020 as we enter our second year of Baltimore Positive this spring.
