As the pandemic continues into its third month of lockdown here in the Charm City and with a huge June 2nd mail-in election on the horizon, we are stepping up our game at Baltimore Positive with daily conversations that we hope you subscribe to and hear and share with friends. It is a very important time for our hometown and our future. Please register to vote and participate in our democracy!

We will be hearing from many of the prime candidates in the Democratic race for Mayor of Baltimore over the next two weeks as election ballots arrive in the mail. And as graduations and the Preakness are on hold here and spring arrives, we will be asking many educational and university leaders about the impact of COVID-19 and the future of higher education in America.

You will not be disappointed by these lengthy, informative final chats – in lieu of the forum we had originally planned to host with all of them in April.

This is current Baltimore City Council President Brandon Scott, who is also a candidate for Mayor of Baltimore.

Like all of the mayoral candidates, we have spent plenty of time on his childhood and background in Northwest Baltimore in Episodes 60, 61 and 62. This time we talked about the impact of COVID-19 on the city and his current role and how it relates to his campaign to be the mayor of Baltimore.

We have nearly two hours of conversation with each of the primary candidates for the June 2nd election that is the most significant of our lifetime locally.

Clearly, a lot has changed and it’s happening very quickly – and crisis management has become the key role for all us during the pandemic.

The next two weeks at Baltimore Positive will feature mayoral candidates and education and university leaders intertwined.

Don and Nestor have been extremely active the past two weeks having meaty conversations with some exceptional and aspirational people.

We are all in this together and this is a time to educate, unite and keep each other safe. But we also have some extra time to read and learn and educate ourselves in many ways.

We will continue to produce high-quality, intelligent conversations with thought leaders throughout this pandemic at Baltimore Positive. And we expect to do it at a rapid pace so stick with us and subscribe!

Like all others, we have halted a “live schedule” and will continue to launch our chats as we have them during this crisis. Expect more than less.

Please subscribe to Baltimore Positive and stay with us.

We were built for this…

The Astros and Orioles both feel wayward as season gets real

Legendary Houston sportswriter John McClain returns to discuss the Astros last-place dirge and puts focus on his NFL specialty of assessing the draft with Nestor as the Texans continue the never-ending NFL hope left over from Dante Pastorini and the Luv Ya Blue Oilers. The General always delivers some straight Texas wisdom with us.
The heartbeat of Houston and what happened to the Astros?

The heartbeat of Houston and what happened to the Astros?

When the Astros come to Baltimore we always reach to longtime Houston sports voice Matt Thomas of Sportstalk790 to update us on the once-mighty (and trashcan banging) franchise to get us current. And in the land of the Rockets playoff misery and aftermath of the Texans draft to rebuild C.J. Stroud's offense, the current last-place and unfamiliar misery has settled into the Astros reality this spring for Houston sports fans.
