EPISODE 233: We tip our caps to Brandon Scott on great campaign and mayoral victory

We have been talking about who the next mayor of Baltimore would be ever since we launched this platform 15 months ago and it certainly appears as though current City Council President Brandon Scott will be the next leader of our metropolis.

After many hours of debate about the campaign and candidates and platforms and issues, Don and Nestor take some time to discuss where we’ve been and where we’re hopefully headed as a community this summer and beyond.

Because we haven’t been able to sit down and eat a proper crab cake at Faidley’s at Lexington Market or have some chicken and waffles at State Fare in Catonsville with our guests, we have been doing one longish episode rather than our customary three shorter blocks of conversation.

Given the current state of America in the aftermath of the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis and protests on our streets and throughout the world, we will be focusing on race and the future of  moving forward in many of our upcoming June episodes.

Ben Jealous and Barry Williams are coming this week to Baltimore Positive.

Clearly, we voted this month. And we hope you voted, too!

We will have a lot more reaction to the recent election results in the coming days and weeks as well as some exciting growth for Baltimore Positive this summer.

We are all in this together and this is a time to educate, unite and keep each other safe. But we also have some extra time to read and learn and educate ourselves in many ways.

We will continue to produce high-quality, intelligent conversations with thought leaders as our citizens try to readjust to this pandemic during the summer at Baltimore Positive.

Please subscribe to Baltimore Positive and stay with us.

We’ll try to keep you cool.

Orioles continue to contend in AL East despite injuries and slowly warming bats

It's been far from perfect but it's been good enough for the Orioles to remain very much in the hunt in the American League East as the scuffling Boston Red Sox come to Camden Yards this weekend. Luke Jones and Nestor discuss the Birds taking two of three in Kansas City and tip-toeing through all sorts of injuries, cold bats and a bullpen that's provided much-needed relief to help them hover near .500 while awaiting better health and Camden Yards cooking.
