Yet another educator turned civic activist turned politician who wants to make a difference joined us for a lengthy discussion about many Baltimore Positive issues and local concerns. New Maryland Senate President  Bill Ferguson joined us before his new appointment in late October to replace Thomas V. Mike Miller in Annapolis so our conversation doesn’t reflect his new appointment but certainly speaks volumes as to his appeal from his fellow Democrats throughout the state.

Our conversation covered a lot of ground but our first part allows Ferguson to tell his “why” of involvement in local government after beginning his career as a Baltimore City school teacher.

We’ll get to Kirwan and other significant education issues in the next two parts but we enjoyed hearing Ferguson tell his story.

OUR UPCOMING TAPING SCHEDULE:

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1: Former Baltimore health commissioner Leana Wen joins us for a serious talk about medicine at Jennings Cafe in Catonsville at noon.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 7: Chair of the Appropriation Committee of the Maryland House of Delgates Maggie McIntosh will join us at State Fare in Catonsville at 9 a.m.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 8: Author and CEO of the Robin Hood Foundation Wes Moore joins us for a special Happy Hour show at 4:30 p.m. at State Fare in Catonsville.

The June reset for Orioles begins at Fenway

We've seen better baseball from the Baltimore Orioles over the past two weeks and after a 7-3 homestand with some walkoffs and walkovers, Luke Jones and Nestor give the Birds a June "reset" as they head to Fenway Park and then to Skydome in Toronto to tackle more of the AL East, where they hope to make up ground as a sub .500 squad thus far.

When the world lost the outsized spirit that was Arthur Donovan, Nestor turned the WNST airwaves into a public eulogy for the Hall of Fame defensive lineman and Baltimore legend. Another Hall of Famer, Raymond Berry, joined in for the memories and kind words for 'Fatso' and the rest of the Baltimore Colts legends and their legacy in the Charm City and what it meant to catch passes from Johnny Unitas at Memorial Stadium.
