We had a beautiful like 82 degree day the other day, and I’m thinking golf day, concert day, tailgate day, beach day some of those 90 nines and a buck o2 and whatever like you had kids out there right summertime I I wear my Planet Fitness gear they’re letting the kids inside in the air condition but you’ll take them out and give them golf game and I know summer’s a big thing at Forest Park and you one day you were one of those kids that learned how to play right

yeah so we try to do our summer camps in the morning, nine to 12. So kind of beat the heat. You know, towards the end of the morning does does still get hot, but we try to beat the heat, get them out of there by noon, and on their way. So yeah, not dealing with too much heat. But yeah, it’s it’s it was rough those past couple days, especially on the courses as well. Trying to maintain them, but you know. We’ve had a good. This week’s been good. I think next week. I think Wednesday’s going to be hot, but nothing too crazy. So everybody come out, have a good time, and summer’s here, and let’s finish strong.

All right, let’s pretend that I’m a big kid because I am, and I come out in this week, next week, it’s hot. Old man, mom want to get rid of me for a little while, have us take some aggression out on some golf balls. Where do you start with a young person? And I guess measuring them, making sure the sticks are right for them, right? I mean, like I’m just thinking about what it would be like to bring a 10, 1214, year old kid out and say, “Hey, they want to learn golf. I’m going to throw them over to you because you’re the golf pro. And I know kids can get better at this quick, get competitive at it quick. I talked about Pine Ridge and Top Tracer, and you know, and and all of the things that can measure yourself. But every day in your life, you’re meeting someone that’s never swung a golf club, right? Literally.

Yes. Yeah. So first thing, I think first try to get them into a program. So I think for beginning kids, youth, First Tee Baltimore is a great outlet to kind of just get them started. It’s a group setting. We have, you know, we fit them for the putters first. We start from putting and work our way back, putting, chipping, and then we get into. They don’t do that

down Ocean City. They just hand me a club for. Oh, really? They don’t fit me down there. You know, I’m talking like everybody plays putt putt in the summer, and I would think that if you’re a kid and you go to the beach and you hold a golf club for the first time on the old pro golf course down there, the dinosaur when any of those. Oh yeah, that probably and you watch it on TV and you’re like, hey, I want to go do it, right? And that you’re that’s what your entry. That’s all the classic five courses. I mean, it’s cheap, it’s easy, it’s not country clubish or somebody like you waiting to teach them how to do it, and you’re not going to learn the first time, right? I mean, this is you’re trying to suck them in and get them interested in it, so they want to come back, so they can get better at it. Because nobody’s going to be good at it in a golf ball the first time they do it. There’s not.

Ah, no, it’s rare, but it happens. You know, a lot of kids have good hand-eye coordination. They’re flexible. They’re mobile, so that you know they can they can kind of move their body in certain positions that we like, but yeah, it does take some commitment to get better at the game, and that’s what we’re here for. With the with the entry into golf at the municipal level, we’re for the community. So you know, come on out, give it a try, and we have programming if you want to get better, and we’ll help you along with that journey. I would think that’s fun because I see people with their kids like Luke right now is down at the beach with his nieces, and they’re doing all sorts of things for the first time ever. You know, trying maybe playing shuffleboard for the first who knows what they’re doing at the beach. Then there’s that perfect one where they hit it, it goes straight, and they’re like, “Look, look, I did it, you know. Yeah, yeah. It’s a euphoric feeling finding that sweet spot and hitting that nice, beautiful shot up in the air at your target, man. It’s it keeps them coming back. So I do I do a lot of group clinics, different organizations. Today I I did two today. One with my my church, they came out and did a clinic, so we had a great time. And you know a few of them felt that feeling and they want to come back for more. So that’s what it’s all about. Just get them exposed to it, give it a try, and keep them keep them swinging. You get that property added Forest Park, hit the ball. So give me a little outfitting for your club. I come out hitting a bucket of balls. Give me a little finances. What’s going to set me back to play some golf here? I always think that about Classic Five, all your courses. Really, an entryway of affordability for people that want to play golf. We think like I did in Dundalk. Golf’s bougie and expensive. It’s not cheap, but it’s very affordable for Classic Five.

Yeah, I’ll start with the putting green. Right, putting and chipping green is free to come out and just practice your putting and chipping. That’s free. We do have a range at Forest Park. Small buckets $4 large buckets $8 Very affordable lessons, very affordable, and then the golf depends on what time you play. But we’re the cheapest in the game. We’re cheapest in the area, cheapest game in town. We call it so very affordable to to come out and enjoy 18 or nine holes with or without a cart. Yeah, depends on what time. Obviously more expensive on the weekends, but yeah, it’s a great time. Evenings is a good time to come out. Twilight rounds. I don’t know if you heard of that. It’s a little cheaper to come out in the in the afternoon evening time to get nine or 18 in. So yeah, very affordable options. And once the

My buddy Leonard Rasky, he’s a putter, not a driver. So we, you know, he always says that’s the only only club he has in his bag. He goes out and putts at charity events, and that’s what he does because he learned how to play putt putt. I’ll send him out to you for some lessons. R.J. Shepard’s here.
