Welcome home. We are W, N, S, T, am 1570 Towson, Baltimore. We are Baltimore positive. We are positively into that week. Thatโ€™s not really the Super Bowl, because weโ€™re doing a cup of Super Bowl next week. Weโ€™re kicking that off at cost us on Monday. All that brought to you by our friends wise markets, in conjunction with our friends at the Maryland lottery, Iโ€™ll have the monopoly giveaways to give away here, so hopefully you get the Community Chest out of all of that. Luke has been talking football and baseball with me. This week is really special, because Chad Steele took away my press credentials and sort of blackballed me. Not. Sort of did blackball me through the National Football League. Iโ€™m not in New Orleans next week. So this week, I just decided to have my own radio row. Weโ€™re going to be having guests of all repute this week. We have a Super Bowl MVP on this week. We have an NFL MVP on this week. We have a two time NFL head coach on this week, and we have four NFL players and we have seven grow Football Hall of Fame voters on the show this week. Thatโ€™s before cup of Super Bowl. This guy also makes it possible. Heโ€™s one of our great sponsors. Heโ€™s a friend to the show. Heโ€™s licking his purple wounds and letter Raskin. I must say that I have two colored shirts that are rascal global. You havenโ€™t get me purple or red or orange or anything like that. I have royal blue and muted, sort of periwinkle blue. Thatโ€™s right. Royal Blue is Buffalo Bills blue, and I decided to wear this today in defeat for the bills, because weโ€™re all kind of pulling for him now. Weโ€™re stuck with his mahomes thing and the Eagles and the kelseys and the Taylor Swifts and all of that stuff. But, um, you know, the commanders and the bills, just it didnโ€™t get done for those teams on Sunday and for their fan bases, I believe, for the Bills fans,

Leonard Raskin  01:48

terrible, terrible. Did I see that? Josh Allen, right, oh, and seven in in playoff. What was it not championship game? Something playoff

Nestor Aparicio  02:03

games? Yeah, theyโ€™ve beat us. Yeah, right, right,

Leonard Raskin  02:06

but I donโ€™t know, has the number, you know it? Itโ€™s interesting when I think back to all the talk weโ€™ve had in the meeting has had about the MVP for the season, and itโ€™s this big thing. Lamar, Josh Allen. Lamar Josh Allen, somewhere in there, nowhere in there is Patrick mahomes, and all the dude does is win. Itโ€™s amazing. Itโ€™s just amazing. I dare say, without him, the chiefs would be nowhere. So when you talk about MVP, I donโ€™t like to even hear myself say it, but the dude just wins. All he does is win. They they stopped buffalo at the 50 went down, got the field goal defense comes out, wrecks them win the game. Itโ€™s itโ€™s befu. They are what, 12 and oh 15 and oh 100 and oh in one score games. Going back to last year, they just have that, whatever it is, winning thing. And I watched really closely the game to Iโ€™ve had my thoughts and watching in the past, they do get some ridiculous penalty calls that other teams donโ€™t get. Watch the game against buffalo, didnโ€™t see any of that. I might have missed it, but, you know, a little nickel diamond, nothing. Didnโ€™t see any roughing. The mahomes didnโ€™t see any crazy, outlandish officiating. They just won the game, and itโ€™s a measurement at the on the fourth down. I donโ€™t think he got it. I didnโ€™t think he got it. I think it was we get to the at billions

Nestor Aparicio  03:57

of dollars, and you manage money for some real people, maybe even a few wealthy people, but I love you have any billionaires in your portfolio, but they have a lot of money, and thereโ€™s a lot of technology, yes. And you know tennis is now getting to the point where the trains are basically season. You know what baseballโ€™s doing. And I know youโ€™re like a periphery baseball fan. I know Iโ€™m a fan. Iโ€™m a fan. No, no, no, but like, but youโ€™re not you. I bet you donโ€™t know this piece of information. They are measuring every baseball player. Did you see this piece? No, I did not. No, no, no, no, no. The Minor League players in the system where they are testing the strike zone, every player will have a Freddy Patek has a different strike zone right than Aaron judge, right? Yes, right. So they are measuring them, and theyโ€™re sending in league representatives, I guess, to the Digital Point of wherever the red dot would be for them to be like I always say to my Am I five nine or 510? Depends on wearing shoes. Iโ€™m not five seven, I might be five eight and a half. I might be five nine and a quarter. I donโ€™t know exactly what I am. Iโ€™m not 511 but Iโ€™m somewhere in there. But whatever it is, theyโ€™re not just going to say heโ€™s five nine, heโ€™s five eight, heโ€™s 511 theyโ€™re going to manage the strike zone in some sort of really weirdly scientific way thinking like, well, if baseball is being more proactive, and baseball moves at the pace of a turtle, the glacier and football has a football that you could have a chip, whatever, whatever youโ€™re going to say that the football needs to be a third in wherever the stripes used to be on the football with the chip, or how, I donโ€™t know, but I can do it. Iโ€™m thinking, Thereโ€™s science, but, yeah, look,

Leonard Raskin  05:47

itโ€™s pre season. I donโ€™t know if it would Iโ€™m gonna get this right. I think I get this right. You can fact check me if we need to in the preseason. If Iโ€™m not mistaken, I think it was Jerry Sandusky. Commented about a pat linesman placing the ball on a very critical play that came up short. And why in 2024 with the technology that we have, is that how we rely on getting this done in this sport. And the next week, he had to make a public apology to the fat officials. Iโ€™m pretty sure it was Jerry, if not, it was somebody on the networks. But the point being, they were criticizing this human nature of marking the ball, making these

Nestor Aparicio  06:44

calls, saw the two officials come in three feet, one

Leonard Raskin  06:47

right, one was forward, one was back. I personally didnโ€™t think he got it, but thatโ€™s just me looking at what Iโ€™m looking at. Itโ€™s a good thing nobodyโ€™s betting on this stuff. Right? Yeah, right. Because if they were, my goodness, what could What would this matter, if somebody actually laid down $1 on the on the game or something, holy cow, whoโ€™d be happy to pay? I donโ€™t know what the spread was on this one, but buffalo came up short. And what happened in the end? Tight End dropped a pass? Well,

Nestor Aparicio  07:16

what happened in the end is the two best teams won. I mean, the two best, the chiefs have been the best team all year. The Eagles were better than the Ravens. The Chiefs are better than the ravens, and the bills are better than the Ravens. So, you know,

Leonard Raskin  07:27

great had a great season. Had a great run. You would think it would have been Detroit. They not got knocked out. The Eagles were the next best Standing Team. And personally, I am thrilled that they beat that from Washington, Iโ€™ve never been a fan. Wonโ€™t be a fan. They can think all they want that weโ€™re so close, we should root for them, but I have no rooting interest in Washington winning anything

Nestor Aparicio  07:52

they ramp up that you dislike me, like I Iโ€™ve always disliked them, but thereโ€™s a point where they took the Redskin thing off the helmet. They look like a little bit of a like, if I were a Redskin lifer fan, Iโ€™d look at them and say, it feels a little bit like my team, but it doesnโ€™t like, based on the color, like, like, color scheme back and keep the commanders thing, I think, and not my team or whatever. Never be my team. No, no, I donโ€™t mean, but if you were my team, yes, how I would feel about it. Now, the the straw

Leonard Raskin  08:25

that they lost, thatโ€™s how I feel. But I have lots of friends in Philly, lots of fans of the Eagles. Even the mayor Ed glass says, Did you see that?

Nestor Aparicio  08:38

You saw the bear? Yeah, itโ€™s got itโ€™s got the spelling wrong. She

Leonard Raskin  08:41

forgot to spell eagles. That was really sad. But I have lots of friends that are going to be at the the New Orleans, horrible stadium to watch a game as Ikes just donโ€™t like it anyway. What

Nestor Aparicio  08:55

a Super Bowl there. Itโ€™s a great place for me. It was terrible Katrina, but good, good on the nice

Leonard Raskin  09:00

people. Place to be, great place to be, and should be fantastic. And hereโ€™s hoping that the Eagles find a way to beat the Taylor Swift, Patrick mahomes Andy Reid chiefs, which I donโ€™t know if they will, could have the first ever three pen the NFL. Well,

Nestor Aparicio  09:18

I mean, I, I expect them to win. They always win these games. And but to that point for you with the ravens, where we get on this now, I want to ask you this as a leadership person, because youโ€™re involved in all sorts of CEO things, and you know all sorts of people who invest money, no money, manage money. You stand responsible and accountable in the non Bernie Madoff kind of way in your space. Absolutely, just the general thing of, well, we invest money in companies where they make announcements to board holders, and then thereโ€™s private companies too that donโ€™t say much to anybody about anything. And the NFL is private. But is it we just gave this. 600 million where are you? Because Iโ€™ve been Listen, people say you beat Bucha up on No, I donโ€™t talk about bashati 50 weeks of the year. I talk about him when he runs away from me and acts, acts in with poor integrity in my in my case. So I can call it out for exact dudeโ€™s been in my home. Heโ€™s flushed my toilet. So I like, I donโ€™t, I mean, come on, man. For him with me, itโ€™s a Come on, man. But for him with the fan base, yeah, for the fan in me, itโ€™s a Come on, man, because like standing in front of your brand, and Iโ€™ll give you the example of this, and when I brought it up with Luke, Luke is a bit of a Philadelphia 76 ers fan. So your thoughts about the commanderโ€™s owner, who was also the 70 Sixers. Oh, yeah, but I said I woke up on Sunday morning, and that franchise is finally in the championship game, and theyโ€™re an underdog, and they got to take a train. Itโ€™s closed. They could, yeah, 700 bucks to get in on game day up in Philly. It was a serious ticket. All of that. I saw Josh Harris out all over my timeline. He was like at a pep rally at Union stage. Is a Union Station, the one in DC, Union Station. He was there. They had the band Correct. He is on Channel Four, CHANNEL SEVEN. Heโ€™s doing sit downs. Heโ€™s with Magic Johnson. Theyโ€™re out. Thatโ€™s right. Hereโ€™s what theyโ€™re doing. Theyโ€™re recruiting the broken fan base, literally, the people that are broken by David Snyder and saying, weโ€™re not the Redskins anymore. We donโ€™t wear the helmets. Itโ€™s a little different. But this kidโ€™s nice, and Iโ€™m a nice man, and weโ€™re a good ownership group. And isnโ€™t Magic Smiles nice and you know, like, Come back, come back. Weโ€™re recruiting you, yes, and the Ravens donโ€™t really recruit anybody. They still have you hanging around giving them a lot of money. They well, they still have a lot of people hanging around giving them a lot of money. And they have a lot of people that arenโ€™t when the tickets are available for 100 bucks, you know when

Leonard Raskin  11:53

the Steelers, hang on, hang on, hang on. Letโ€™s pack up. Those tickets are already sold. They are. The Ravens arenโ€™t selling them, right? Itโ€™s disenchanted or freezing cold fans who donโ€™t want to come out, that are trying to resell the ticket and canโ€™t sell it, but the Romans have sold them all. They donโ€™t care. Those seats are sold. Granted, theyโ€™re not going to make it into concessions because theyโ€™re not the seats. But those seats would argue

Nestor Aparicio  12:18

to you, those seats arenโ€™t sold. And I can argue that. And and as a journalist, you think theyโ€™re not paid for. You think the ravens are selling them. I donโ€™t think the ravens are sold out of PSLs. I donโ€™t think that when the tickets move out to season ticket holders, that there arenโ€™t lots and lots of tickets. And Leonard, I know this to be factual, so they run ads all over the place asking me to buy single game tickets. There are plenty. So please, you you need to know as a fact that there is not a waiting list, and that what you just purported as a fact that fans were no the team, the team inventory, the

Leonard Raskin  13:00

team. Okay, look, if the team is selling,

Nestor Aparicio  13:03

I want to make that clear. No, got it. Team has empty seats. They do. If the

Leonard Raskin  13:07

team is selling tickets and canโ€™t sell them, shame on them. My assumption is those suits, I

Nestor Aparicio  13:13

want to buy season tickets for next year, theyโ€™d say, hereโ€™s the PSL, itโ€™s in section 143, itโ€™s, you know. And they would do, you know, they would sell UAC. So itโ€™s not like the Redskins waiting list was 30 years ago, where you could not get in, or what we had here, which was that for 20 years, which was the only way you could get a ticket was to know somebody who had a ticket, right? You know, right? Thatโ€™s not that really isnโ€™t. I wish it were, and thatโ€™s one of my my sad commentaries. Just nobody cares.

Leonard Raskin  13:45

I got it so. So what I know is I have friends that had DC tickets for generations, that dropped them, let them go, donโ€™t have them anymore. Donโ€™t care. They died 10 years before. They would have willed them right, right? But now they donโ€™t care. I also have people that I know who work for the Washington commanders, and Iโ€™m told season ticket and ticket sales are brisk. People walk back in and theyโ€™re selling and good for them. You know, theyโ€™re making it happen. Youโ€™ll

Nestor Aparicio  14:17

know that thatโ€™s real when the Eagles come in to play in the cowboys and their fans arenโ€™t there on an eight hour junket.

Leonard Raskin  14:24

Thatโ€™s right, right? Thatโ€™s right, when they kick it into the stadium. We made it

Nestor Aparicio  14:28

really, really hard for visiting fans to get tickets in for a long time, for a long time, long for a long time, for a generation, for a generation, yeah, and

Leonard Raskin  14:37

and that turns over. People die. People get tired of it. People get tired of the team, whateverโ€™s going on, and

Nestor Aparicio  14:45

they or their kids, donโ€™t want the tickets, or theyโ€™re over in Maryland, or whatever. Thatโ€™s

Leonard Raskin  14:49

right, and the tickets go away. That happens, or they move.

Nestor Aparicio  14:55

Iโ€™ve seen my section as it exactly happens and exactly all part of. That. So what we have now, because youโ€™re the business guy, by the way, Leonard Raskin is here. He manages money, which is why I try to move him toward talking about money, and not just club level money, but regular people money, and the bird land value menu out there and all that. But what we have now is the Orioles just hired a guy named Mark fine, whoโ€™s been a friend of mine for 25 years. Heโ€™s Hi Mark and I, they hired a guy named Don COVID from Atlanta who ran Stadium, the football stadium, down to the Mercedes Benz stadium, who, I have 30 people mutual in the industry who know him, and Katie Griggs. So thatโ€™s their new sort of front office of how theyโ€™re going to do things. I donโ€™t think theyโ€™re coming here to half ass it, or to try a little bit or to not out point Greg Bader and TJ Brightman and John Angelos. And I would say the same thing about the Washington commanders, who will now argue they have the best quarterback right in the DMV, and theyโ€™re the Maryland commanders. Theyโ€™re going to make that argument that they really are the Maryland commanders, because theyโ€™re going to come after people to sell tickets, and theyโ€™re going to try hard, and their owner is going to be out in front of it, and the Ravens are going to say, weโ€™ve just been good for a long time, and Leonard likes the seats. And when our doesnโ€™t speak, no problem when the owner doesnโ€™t show up for 10 years. No problem when the president of the team bans local media members, and then at Baltimore CEO event says no media is involved. Thatโ€™s just okay. And I donโ€™t itโ€™s going to be interesting. Thatโ€™s all Iโ€™m going to say. Because the Orioles are going to be good. They have a product to sell. The Orioles lowering this and lowering this, and they have hard working the Orioles are going to try to recruit the community.

Leonard Raskin  16:32

Yes, hereโ€™s open commander. They need to the Orioles. Itโ€™s been a long time since theyโ€™ve done that. They need to show up and show out and give the community a reason to come to the baseball games and not be Yankee fans and Red Sox fans in the house, because I was there for the Yankee game this past summer and the nice Sunday afternoon, it was as loud for the Yankees as it was for the Orioles. That was tragic.

Nestor Aparicio  16:58

Thatโ€™s got 30 years. I mean, yeah, but you

Leonard Raskin  17:01

gotta get you gotta get it. So itโ€™s not you gotta recruit the community make that happen. I will say, in Washington, we got a new a new owner, and heโ€™s got a good group put together. Letโ€™s face it, magic Johnsonโ€™s a happy guy. Heโ€™s, heโ€™s a smart, smart business man. Heโ€™s done a great job wherever heโ€™s put his finger. He he has, he understands thatโ€™s exactly right, and he understands how to market and heโ€™s created money and wealth and opportunity for everybody that heโ€™s been involved with in his circle. And thatโ€™s what leadershipโ€™s about. You talked about leadership. Thatโ€™s what itโ€™s about, not not bringing up the followers, but creating more leaders. Thatโ€™s good leadership. So, you know, on the one hand, I gotta say, you know, Bucha is rested a little, maybe on the team. Thatโ€™s okay. On the other hand, last thing Iโ€™d want to see, last thing, right, literally, last thing Iโ€™d want to see is Jerry Jones. I mean, what a goof. I mean that guy, that guy thinks he knows how to run a football team. I give Bucha at least a little credit, that he doesnโ€™t think he knows how to run the team anymore. Heโ€™s left it to some people that have smart minds about football, and theyโ€™re theyโ€™re doing okay. They gotta get over that hump. Sure? Lamar got to win a Super Bowl. Sure. Ask Jim Kelly, Ask Dan Marino, ask those guys that were great, great quarterbacks that never won it all. Ask Josh Allen. Everybody says heโ€™s the greatest. There is, I dare say right now, that guyโ€™s Patrick mahomes. Well,

Nestor Aparicio  18:37

I mean, somebody knocks him off homes in this game two weeks from now. I feel I see that. I donโ€™t believe it.

Leonard Raskin  18:44

Thatโ€™s my point of King. You gotta kill the king.

Nestor Aparicio  18:50

Leonard, I uh, tell everybody what you do. Give me the elevator speech for Raskin global before you depart here this week. Yeah,

Leonard Raskin  18:56

weโ€™re about weโ€™re about your money. Weโ€™re about everything you do with your money. What about you understanding what it is that you want in life, what is your true purpose to of existing? What do you want to have happen in your life, and how does your money intersect with that? How do you bring your your best you your best hopes, dreams, desires to us to help you then understand how to make your money achieve that goal, whether itโ€™s to own a business, travel the world, educate your kids, help your parents retire. Well, have a great life. Whatever it is business owners that we work with all want to have a greater existence than just the business. Iโ€™ve never met anybody that owned a business who said Our goal is to grow the business. Itโ€™s to grow the business for what, for the kids, for retirement, for charity, for. For whatever. And so whatever your personal purpose is, we want to help you understand how to maneuver your dollars to achieve that purpose. And sadly, the world that is financial advice isnโ€™t about that. The world that is financial advice, too often, is about selling you a product that they sell, whether it helps you move towards your financial success as an individual, as a family or not, if it fits, you buy it, they sell it, and they go on about their business. Happy life for them. But we need happy lives for our investors, for our the people we advise, we need them to have a focus on whatโ€™s bigger than the money itself, and thatโ€™s what we work to help people do have the kind of life they want, and use the money in amazing ways they didnโ€™t know they could

Nestor Aparicio  20:48

Well, I got last thing for you is my wife is using her money with her sister and dad to run off to Italy, and theyโ€™re trying to figure out, do I want to do a cruise on the land? Do I want to go to Venice? And Iโ€™m like, man, go do it. Go do it. Go do it. Go do it, and theyโ€™re going to go do it, and Iโ€™m going to watch the cat and and Bill Baltimore positive while we do it. Heโ€™s later Raskin. He is rascal global. You can find him out on the internet. You find him at the front of Baltimore positive, uh, weโ€™re always chatting about sports and money and life, and Iโ€™m sure next week we will be talking about a cup of Super Bowl, which is our week long movement to stocks and pantries and make people aware of food insecurity. This time of year, itโ€™s cold. We know how cold it is. Weโ€™re going to offer folks a cup of soup or bowl at five of our location starts at Costas on Monday. Whole schedule is up at Baltimore positive.com you.
