The Ravens made quick work of signing their 2012 draft class as they’ve reached an agreement with linebacker Courtney Upshaw on a four-year deal.
The deal is reportedly worth an estimated $5.3 million, with $3.6 million guaranteed for the 35th overall pick, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport.
The Upshaw agreement meant the Ravens had come to terms with all but one of their draft picks. However, sixth-round wide receiver Tommy Streeter came to terms on a contract later Thursday afternoon.
Considered more of a luxury pick when the Ravens selected the Alabama product on April 27, Upshaw will be counted on to replace rush linebacker and 2011 Defensive Player of the Year Terrell Suggs, who suffered a partially-torn Achilles tendon during draft weekend. Suggs claims it will take four to six months to rehab following Tuesday’s surgery, but many question whether he will be able to play at all during the 2012 season.
Upshaw was considered by most to be a first-round pick, but disappointing workout numbers caused him to slide to the third pick of the second round. The Ravens traded out of the 29th pick of the first round to collect an extra fourth-round choice and still managed to take Upshaw with their first draft pick.
At 6-foot-5 and possessing good speed, Streeter will compete for the Ravens’ No. 3 receiver spot with veteran Jacoby Jones and second-year receivers LaQuan Williams and Tandon Doss.
