Ravens list Humphrey doubtful, four others questionable for Week 8 trip to Cleveland

OWINGS MILLS, Md. — The Ravens are preparing to be without a key member of their defense with cornerback Marlon Humphrey officially listed as doubtful to play in Cleveland on Sunday.

The three-time Pro Bowl defensive back missed the entire practice week after injuring his right knee late in the first half of last Monday’s win at Tampa Bay. Humphrey was able to do some light running and agility work on a side field during the open portion of Friday’s practice, but his likely Week 8 absence comes after he recorded the first two-interception game of his career against the Buccaneers.

Prior to the final injury report being released Friday afternoon, head coach John Harbaugh had little to say about Humphrey or Baltimore’s other players dealing with injuries.

“I think we’ll find out as we get closer to Sunday,” Harbaugh said. “We’ll get through the injury report today, and then we’ll see where we are on Sunday with really all those guys.”

The Ravens listed wide receiver Zay Flowers (ankle), defensive tackle Travis Jones (ankle), and cornerbacks Nate Wiggins (shoulder/illness) and Jalyn Armour-Davis (hamstring) as questionable to play against the Browns. Flowers appeared to be moving around well on his right ankle Friday after missing the first two practices of the week, but the status of Jones is less certain as he wasn’t moving well on his left ankle — which was heavily wrapped in a brace — as a limited practice participant on Thursday and Friday.

Designated to return to practice from injured reserve earlier this week, Armour-Davis was a full participant on Thursday and Friday and must be activated by 4 p.m. Saturday to be eligible to play against the Browns. General manager Eric DeCosta would need to make a corresponding 53-man roster move to create room for him.

The Ravens officially ruled out cornerback T.J. Tampa (ankle) as well as running backs Rasheen Ali (ankle) and Keaton Mitchell (knee). Designated to return to practice earlier this week, Mitchell had been ruled out by Harbaugh earlier this week.

With Humphrey not expected to play and Wiggins’ status uncertain after the rookie was limited Friday, Baltimore will be happy to welcome back veteran slot cornerback Arthur Maulet (knee/hamstring), who doesn’t carry a game status designation into Sunday’s game. Maulet, 31, was officially activated from IR earlier this week and had been sidelined since undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery in August, but he’ll try to provide a lift for a defense ranking last in the NFL in passing yards allowed per game.

“I know I can help the guys. I’m big on communicating. That’s part of my game,” Maulet said. “I can help my guys get aligned and confirming formations and all those types of things. It was kind of tough, but it’s nothing major that they have to work on. It’s just communication.”

Defensive tackle Broderick Washington (knee) and linebacker Malik Harrison (groin) will also return Sunday after multi-game absences.

Cleveland will be without a notable starter on each side of the ball: left tackle Jedrick Wills (knee) and linebacker Jordan Hicks (elbow/triceps). Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski wouldn’t disclose Wills’ replacement at left tackle when asked by Cleveland reporters on Friday.

Three-time Pro Bowl right guard Wyatt Teller (knee) is officially questionable to play and must be activated from IR on Saturday afternoon to play against the Ravens.
