The Ravens promoted rookie running back Fitz Toussaint from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
With fourth-round running back Lorenzo Taliaferro listed as questionable and unlikely to play after being sidelined with a foot injury suffered in last week’s win in Miami, Toussaint gives Baltimore a third healthy running back behind starter Justin Forsett and backup Bernard Pierce. To make room on the 53-man roster, offensive lineman Jah Reid (hand) was placed on injured reserve.
Toussaint, a rookie free agent from the University of Michigan, gained 123 rushing yards on 21 carries in the preseason and has spent most of the season on the practice squad. He was on the active roster in Weeks 1 and 3 but has yet to appear in a regular-season game.
Reid being moved to IR likely brings his disappointing career in Baltimore to end after he never lived up to expectations as a third-round pick in the 2011 draft. The Central Florida product appeared in just four games this season.
