With the official open of free agency now just a month away, the Ravens re-signed two veterans to strengthen their depth on the defensive side of the ball.

On Thursday, Baltimore re-signed defensive end Brent Urban and cornerback Daryl Worley, who were both scheduled to become unrestricted free agents next month.

Making his return to the organization that drafted him, the 6-foot-7, 309-pound Urban appeared in 16 games and collected 21 tackles, a sack, and three batted passes in 2022. The 31-year-old averaged 18.7 defensive snaps per game and primarily served as the backup to Calais Campbell, who confirmed his plans to return for the 2023 season last weekend. Pro Football Focus graded Urban 91st out of 126 qualified interior defensive linemen last year.

A 2014 fourth-round pick out of Virginia, Urban spent the first five years of his career with the Ravens before stints with Tennessee, Chicago, and Dallas.

Worley started the regular-season finale at Cincinnati and appeared in eight games, recording eight tackles and two pass breakups while primarily playing on special teams. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound defensive back will turn 28 next week and is expected to compete for a spot on the 53-man roster after bouncing between the practice squad and the game-day roster for much of the 2022 campaign.

A 2016 third-round pick out of West Virginia, Worley has also appeared in NFL game action for Carolina, Buffalo, Dallas, Detroit, and the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders.

I would've fired you last May when you fired your manager and then hid for three days. Your "leadership" stinks but I do believe your baseball team can be a playoff contender this summer. But on the heels of last place, at some point the record belongs to you...
