BALTIMORE — Minutes before taking the field for a public practice at M&T Bank Stadium, the Ravens announced the signing of veteran linebacker Stevie Baggs Jr. to fill the final spot on their 90-man preseason roster.
The spot became open after the organization waived offensive lineman Paul Madsen Friday.
The 30-year-old Baggs has spent most of his professional career in the Canadian Football League, playing with Winnipeg, Edmonton, Saskatchewan, and Hamilton. He also spent time with the Detroit Lions and Arizona Cardinals.
According to his Wikipedia page, Baggs was nicknamed “Shakespeare” in the CFL because “all he does is make plays.” He has been assigned No. 40 for training camp.
Baggs played college football at Bethune-Cookman.
