The Ravens lost their first preseason game of the summer Thursday night but appeared to make it through the 34-27 loss to the Carolina Panthers with relative health.
Coach John Harbaugh reported only one injury following the game as backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor left the game in the fourth quarter and was evaluated for a potential concussion. Third-string quarterback Caleb Hanie replaced Taylor after he was taken to the locker room for further tests.
โ€œHe went through the concussion protocol there, so weโ€™ll just have to play that one by ear, have not heard anything on that,โ€ Harbaugh said. โ€œOther than that, we came out healthy. [Iโ€™m] very pleased about that.โ€
Cornerback Lardarius Webb and right guard Marshal Yanda made their preseason debuts and reported no setbacks following the game as Webb played an outside cornerback spot in the nickel package and Yanda played the first couple series with the starting offensive line.
Webb hadnโ€™t played in a game since suffering a torn ACL last Oct. 14 and had been practicing on a limited basis from the start of training camp before increasing his level of contact in recent days.
โ€œWhen I finally got back out there, it felt like football again,โ€ Webb said. โ€œThe thing I got most out of it was being out there with the defense, just running around with them smiling and having fun โ€“- thatโ€™s what I got out of it. Itโ€™s going to come along. Itโ€™s going to be good. Iโ€™m just happy to be out there with the guys.โ€
Yanda had been sidelined for the entire spring after undergoing offseason shoulder surgery and didnโ€™t return to the practice field until Aug. 12.
His return paid immediate dividends for the Ravens as they put together a nine-play, 69-yard touchdown drive on the opening series that included 24 rushing yards from running back Ray Rice.
โ€œI just try to go out there and do my part and help the team,โ€ Yanda said. โ€œJust to go out there and execute and play my best and just help the team. Thatโ€™s what everyone is trying to do. Just get back in the groove.โ€

Iโ€™m pulling for you to fix the Orioles on-and-off the field, even if you continue the bizarrely petty Angelos family tradition of willfully, purposely and strategically mistreating me and restricting a legitimate professional working local media member from asking youโ€ฆ
