8. Ravens winning 11 straight games to take their first Super Bowl title (2000-01)
No one could have possibly imagined the Ravens were about to go on a historic run to their first NFL championship after dropping their third straight game and completing their fifth straight contest without scoring a touchdown upon losing 9-6 to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Oct. 29. Then again, little was typical about Brian Billick’s team in his second season as head coach.
The offense picked it up the following week with Trent Dilfer at the helm — the former backup threw three touchdown passes in a win over Cincinnati — and did its best not to mess things up for a record-breaking defense as the Ravens won their final seven games of the regular season to finish 12-4. The defense rose to a new level in four postseason games by allowing only 23 points — seven coming on a kickoff return for a touchdown in Super Bowl XXXV — to lead Baltimore back to its first NFL championship since the Colts had won Super Bowl V.
