16. Maryland basketball advancing to the NCAA tournament 11 straight years (1994-2004)
Truthfully, this streak doesnโt sound terribly impressive until you remember itโs the 15th-longest in NCAA history, a reflection of just how high Maryland basketball rose under Gary Williams immediately following the darkest days of the program.
When the Terrapins missed the Big Dance in 2005 to break the streak, it didnโt necessarily feel like the end of an era, but Maryland has only advanced to three NCAA tournaments since then and hasnโt made it beyond the round of 32. Of course, the rocky start to the Mark Turgeon era hasnโt done anything to raise hopes for what was once a proud program that peaked with a national championship in 2002.
