16. Maryland basketball advancing to the NCAA tournament 11 straight years (1994-2004)

Truthfully, this streak doesn’t sound terribly impressive until you remember it’s the 15th-longest in NCAA history, a reflection of just how high Maryland basketball rose under Gary Williams immediately following the darkest days of the program.
When the Terrapins missed the Big Dance in 2005 to break the streak, it didn’t necessarily feel like the end of an era, but Maryland has only advanced to three NCAA tournaments since then and hasn’t made it beyond the round of 32. Of course, the rocky start to the Mark Turgeon era hasn’t done anything to raise hopes for what was once a proud program that peaked with a national championship in 2002.
