Truthfully, this one almost slipped through the cracks as the defensive excellence of “Mr. Oriole” is sometimes taken for granted in the history of Baltimore sports.
It’s true that the Gold Glove is often scrutinized for being based too much on popularity — not unlike the NFL’s Pro Bowl — but you can’t ignore the longevity and excellence of No. 5 at the hot corner, making his streak of 16 straight fielding awards an appropriate inclusion for this list.
