Some members of our Baltimore Positive community have been told to โ€œstick to sportsโ€ in recent months so we thought with Baltimore Ravens season approaching and the Baltimore Orioles lease running out in two years, it was time to talk about the games we play as a community and the future of the city and stadia and arenas.

Paul Tiburzi is the current chairman of the Greater Baltimore Committee but also spent many years working with the Maryland Sports and Entertainment Commission to bring soccer matches and a potential World Cup series to Baltimore in 2026 as FIFA brings the biggest tournament in the world to the United States.

This first of three chats with Tiburzi in Episode 36 goes far deeper than sports. We all know how important Camden Yards was in establishing downtown Baltimore almost 30 years ago but now our conversation turns to the future with a man who has seen it all in the local sports business โ€“ including his passion for soccer and background in Highlandtown.

Now that weโ€™re off of our summer vacation and ready for Ravens football and making Baltimore better, hereโ€™s our long-awaited upcoming calendar of events:

FRIDAY, AUGUST 9: U. S. Senator Chris Van Hollen joins us at State Fare in Catonsville at 9am for a breakfast chat

THURSDAY, AUGUST 15 (new guest): David Hornbeck will discuss a life in education and helping children with us at Faidleyโ€™s in Lexington Market at

THURSDAY, AUGUST 22: U.S. Senator Ben Cardin joins us at State Fare in Catonsville at 9am for a breakfast chat

We want to thank all of our sponsors, supporters and friends who have allowed this Baltimore Positive platform and movement to become part of your lives and routine. And thank you for sharing our conversations with your community and world!

We also want to recognize the partnership at Center Maryland the Building Equity: Education Equity And Affordable Housing Conference for their support in being Baltimore Positive!

Hope to see you around Baltimore soonโ€ฆ
