With John Harbaugh in Indianapolis for the NFL rookie combine, it allowed the gathered media to ask the coach about any off-season health concerns the Ravens might be dealing with just one month after the season came to an end in Foxborough.
Harbaugh revealed wide receiver Torrey Smith underwent double sports hernia surgery while cornerback Cary Williams had a procedure to repair a torn labrum in his hip. Neither player’s condition was described with deep concern as Harbaugh even disclosed Smith dealt with his ailment throughout his rookie season.
The second-round pick from Maryland set franchise rookie records for touchdowns (seven), receptions (50), and receiving yards (841) while starting opposite veteran Anquan Boldin.
“He nursed that all the way through the whole year [and] did a great job with that,” Harbaugh said.
