On the 21st day of the Maryland Crab Cake Tour, Nestor and Jenn remained at the beach and after many, many folks told us that Hobbit had a legendary crab cake, we managed to make it work up on 81st and Bayside. Proprietor Garvey Heiderman was a super host in not only opening early his kitchen early for us to shoot these segments but in sharing his family story about how the most dramatic dining room in the state came to life and has remained lively over three generations. Whew, and that crab cake!

Follow along all of July for last year’s glorious and delicious 30 crab cakes in 30 days (#CrabCakeTour on Twitter and Facebook) and let Nestor re-tell you where to go this summer for a tasty ‘cake.

This year’s tour is sponsored by The Maryland Lottery, Goodwill Industries and Window Nation and the Restaurant Association of Maryland and begins at Rocky Gap State Park on August 1st and will stretch for 31 thirsty days and nights as Nestor celebrates his 31st Anniversary as Baltimore’s longest-running and most celebrated radio voice and media traveling crab cake taster all month for a second run at great Maryland businesses and local breweries all over The Free State. From Oakland to Ocean City, from Cumberland to Cambridge – The Maryland Crab Cake Tour retrospective from 2020 is here and the 2021 edition is coming your way.

If you have a nominee for a delicious Maryland crab cake somewhere on the local roads, now is the time to toss Nestor a note: nes@baltimorepositive.com. We’re always looking for a new place to bring our sponsors: The Maryland Lottery, Goodwill Industries and Window Nation and the Restaurant Association of Maryland in support of Restaurant Week from September 16-25, 2022.

We began our day with kangaroo yoga just over the Delaware state line at Barn Hill Preserve just west of Bethany Beach.
If you haven’t never visited Barn Hill Preserve in Delaware, you are missing out. A special morning with the animals!
And, of course, Les and Nes reunited on the Boardwalk because Jenn wanted Thrasher’s!
And Fenwick Ice is one of the greatest places on earth! Always get the snow cap!

We always have time and the heart to continue to deliver the message of former Baltimore Ravens and Stallions linebacker O.J. Brigance, whose battle against ALS has inspired everyone he's ever touched. Nestor was touched by the visit from the Executive Director of the Brigance Brigade, Drew Vanlandingham, who brings Nestor a Juice update and educates us on the big Canton walk and run on May 3rd.
