Like every Baltimore sports fan, our financial insider Leonard Raskin is thinking about two parades in the next six months in the Charm City. And for perhaps the first time in our lifetime, itโs possibleโฆ

Welcome home we are W n s t, Towson Baltimore and Baltimore positive. I need to come up with a new nickname for the show is to say sports form and just Baltimore positive thatโs where to find me. Thatโs what I told the people in Ohio. If they were looking for me during browns or Bengals season, our friends at the Maryland lottery are putting us out on the road doing the Maryland crab cake tour. The Gold Rush sevens doubles weโll be giving these away at fade Leeโs when the cheat strokes come to town a little later on this month. Also our friends at Liberty pure solutions, keeping the water crystal clear in my glass as well as Iโm a shower and everywhere else and our friends at Jiffy Lube multi care keeping us in perfect condition to and I should point this out if you do did do the oil change. My wife had it all done right across from the curio on Timonium, York antimonium Road, and I put a lot of miles of 97 degrees out in Pittsburgh when I was driving up the mountain and down the mountain in Ohio to see my dear friend Thomas Dolby, and his totally tubular 80s tour, as well as the great Sammy Hagar along with Michael Anthony, Jason Bonham, Joe Satriani and Loverboy always gotta give Loverboy a shot. So I went to Cleveland, and I made the turn on i 70 Sunday morning, and I got this long drive out to Ohio and Iโm seeing Bernard and my buddy Munch, Bishop and I feel bad. I didnโt invite reg I feel like a jerk now. Because I found that out later on. But you get to the right before you even get the turf Valley. Thereโs a sign that says like the moon 12 billion miles, San Francisco 3100. Itโs like the sign in Ocean City when you crossed the astral woman Bay was used to make us laugh there. And you see the sign and it says Columbus, Ohio. And I I thought you let a Raskin I know thereโs a Columbus Ohio side and then you thereโs somewhere at like around Hancock or around wherever, where you break off and you can either go to like Cumberland and it says Columbus. Yeah. And Iโm like now I need Pittsburgh and I did something kicked. Can I throw myself on the mercy of my financial advisor? Sure. Really stupid. I did. I spent a few. Two too few too many dollars on poles. Let me tell you why. Hereโs what. You have a son. You love him, right? Absolutely. Does he love you back? Once open? Yeah, cuz he taught you all the time? Yeah, no, no, heโs,
Leonard Raskin 02:30
heโs pretty good. We talk a lot. Okay, but heโs 21. Like he rolls his eyes every now and then to get the eye roll. You know? Itโs 39 Are there times
Nestor J. Aparicio 02:37
where you call him and heโs like that I will talk to you right now. Iโll call you later. Yeah,
Leonard Raskin 02:41
sure. Sure. Okay. Oh, doesnโt even answer has sent me a text. Later.
Nestor J. Aparicio 02:46
This is what Iโm talking about. Okay. So my kids twice your kidโs age, okay. Heโs married. Heโs got his own gig. Heโs got his own thing. Right. And I donโt talk to him. We donโt do as much as like I would like to do he knows this is why we do things and heโs been on the show. We havenโt you know, we do our thing. So but heโs, heโs old and boring. Right? So when I invited him to concerts and stuff or Hey, dude, you want to go to New York and see the Black Rose? Yeah, okay to stay home. So thatโs where I am. So Iโm driving down the mountain five and a half hours home on Sunday in a rainstorm listen to great classic rock. I had much bishop on this week, a free plug for Michael Stanley and the micro Stanley band a song called My town I heard I heard great music. Smarter Speedwagon. Just if I left Cleveland, they were begging me to stay for Def Leppard journey and cheap trick at the baseball stadium and I gotta go, I gotta get home, get my car home and get worked on. So, you know, Iโm coming through like the upper Pittsburgh Ian area, and my kid loves Pittsburgh and his wife. They went to an arts festival up there, and Iโm like, maybe heโs got a lunch place for me. So I literally just called him from the road on the toll road right above Pittsburgh. Iโm coming into Pittsburgh Butler up that way, seeing the Oakmont thereโs an Oakmont stop where like you can buy all the Oakmont 2025 Golf gear because the US opens there next year. I get on the phone with him in Butler. I pulled over in Somerset, because I had to get off the side. So I was on the phone for like an hour and a half. And he was just like telling me stories and weโre so I donโt even know like weโre just talking right. So so luckily I gotta pee. I gotta get out again to stretch it back out again. So get off in Somerset. Fine. Okay, Iโm gonna get back on board. He has this. He was going to San Francisco and you get some advice. So I said, Alright, letโs get back on the road. And Iโm just driving driving along 80 miles an hour because you do that up there. Yeah. And I just Iโm scooting along. And the next thing I know, Iโm like, Dude, I gotta go. Well, I think I took a wrong turn. This isnโt Breezewood and the next thing you know, Iโm on 70 whatever the hell it is. Iโm on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. I stayed on the turnpike. I didnโt get off a breeze right which is the First time in my life Iโve ever been on this road, and itโs such a nice piece of road but then I got the toll report it was like another eight bucks 12 But I went to go through Harrisburg and it cost me like 12 minutes longer. So do you have to go that way or so?
Leonard Raskin 05:20
So our history is my wife so Kathy sheโs really funny. Sheโll she doesnโt trust GPS. This is this is great. Because you trust the GPS,
Nestor J. Aparicio 05:31
please trust the GPS. Wait, wait.
Leonard Raskin 05:34
She goes to what the hell was a waste? Oh, no, no before GPS on the computer ran McNally, the map. Mapquest. MapQuest, you got it. Thank you. Itโs a quiz, Mapquest and prints out the directions.
Nestor J. Aparicio 05:53
Because my space is unavailable. And then and then thatโs what she uses CompuServe CDs donโt work anymore, right.
Leonard Raskin 06:01
And the garment on the on the dash that falls off into your lap. So So Matthew, and I put into GPS and our philosophy is wherever she says to go, we go. So check this out. I got pulled over.
Nestor J. Aparicio 06:16
Turn the Google guys the guy that yes, yeah. Into the Australian guy got.
Leonard Raskin 06:24
So whenever she takes it down, yes, you do that in Ireland, we get the Australian guy. Absolutely. So Iโm cruising one time Iโm cruising home. And I was like you said doing at I might have been doing 95 I donโt know. And the lights go on, you know, really annoying. Iโm in a hurry. Now they slow me down because theyโre pulling me over. So the guy comes up and he says, Where are you? Where are you going? And I said Baltimore that we were way up in Ohio still. I said Baltimore. And he says, you know, Ohio, they have to hats in every year. Yeah. He says your long. He says youโre a long way from home. I said, Yeah, I dropped my son off at Ohio State cruising back home. And he says, Do you know where you are? And I said, No. I said, I hold up my phone. I said I just go where she tells me. And he says he comes back as my license registration goes back to his car. He comes back, he hands me a warning and he says she should tell you to slow down. I said that
Nestor J. Aparicio 07:26
problem. Oh, I didnโt make the wrong turn. I was headed toward Harrisburg. And then I cried.
Leonard Raskin 07:30
I go whatever it says so Iโve been that way. Iโve been a lot of different ways back and forth to Columbus.
Nestor J. Aparicio 07:35
I didnโt even know that road existed. And I just thought like, when you come down the mountain, you just go to Breezewood and Iโm driving and Iโm like, I was 1215 I pulled over to the rest stop and Iโm like, I must just go to Harrisburg now. Tell me to go that way. Thatโs
Leonard Raskin 07:50
exactly right. And weโve gone past you know, you go out past nemacolin Weโve gone out that way. And water through the mountains through the one lane two lane roads through the little towns and everything. Well, this brings man
Nestor J. Aparicio 08:05
late tro because I could have done that. So whatever way she says itโs like Barry Manilow did the weekend in New England back when he fell in love back in the 70s I did a weekend in Ohio with Thomas Dolby Bernard McKinney Munch bishop and the great Sammy Hagar mighty went
Leonard Raskin 08:21
back to Ohio. Your city was gone. And I saw
Nestor J. Aparicio 08:24
Chrissy Hines thatโs the last time you want to go tonight. I saw her do that song right the Warner theater.
Leonard Raskin 08:33
Rock and roll youโve been youโve been doing it. We saw
Nestor J. Aparicio 08:36
train reo. And yacht rock review last Friday up in Camden. So Iโve done a lot of tried My back feels great. Iโm back on the mat. Thank you Planet Fitness. I have not had any crabs over Costas. But Iโm coming with my rescue globally. But I tell you, I added purposely avoided you are
Leonard Raskin 08:54
busy. Iโve been busy. Iโve had a lot of family. Weโve had the graduation party. And we coupled it with the going away party and your
Nestor J. Aparicio 09:02
kids going to Ireland. So letโs go into Ireland. Where is your summer when the bronze vacation? John Martin is out this week, even the Guardians week and I have all these Cleveland stories to tell him about blah, and heโs gone. So like everybodyโs like Bilko I havenโt seen him in a month. I havenโt seen him since. So you know all my my regulars around here. Yes, summer. And Iโm feeling that but weโre
Leonard Raskin 09:24
beach and youโre watching for Ireland. Everybody watching youโre absolutely watching the Orioles. Absolutely. Itโs been. Itโs been a lot of fun. Itโs been a lot of fun. And I thought the trade deadline might be more devastating than it was. And what I thought they would well look Iโve met Mike Elias a couple times. And Iโve heard him talk a number of times. And the more I see what he does, the more I believe in what the guy is doing for this team and for its future. And he clearly they could have gone out and gotten a big star pitcher But he wasnโt willing to give up what they were asking for. And itโs the Grand Slam. Right, right. Would the guy go one for 50? Did he go one for 50? The first time I fixed him, and they took him back
Nestor J. Aparicio 10:11
on one overall phenom. Heโs 20.
Leonard Raskin 10:15
About the kid, the kid is just that, you know, this is the other thing. Thatโs really scary. Dude, you and me. Weโve talked about this before. Iโm watching the game. And you got around the bases, right? You got you got Westberg Well, well, now youโre
Nestor J. Aparicio 10:28
right. Yeah, I was gonna let that that that is gonna work. Thanks.
Leonard Raskin 10:35
Itโs a big bad deal. Yeah, heโs out until the end of the season. Itโs over. Heโs done. Maybe heโll come back for the playoffs. You know, who knows? Thatโs thatโs hard changes
Nestor J. Aparicio 10:44
the whole dynamic after you deal normally. Right? Right.
Leonard Raskin 10:47
But you know, you canโt know thatโs coming. You canโt know itโs coming. Which a lot like your business are asking. Exactly right. But you got these 20 Somethings, 20 twos 20s 20 ones playing up there. And and Iโm watching the game. And Iโm thinking, My goodness, these kids are even younger than my son. These are kids how
Nestor J. Aparicio 11:08
younger than the top eight draft picks in this year draft this year. This year. Theyโre all college kids. Unbelievable. Still a year older than him. Right? Right.
Leonard Raskin 11:18
Well, that was that was like Lamar, right. Lamar came into the NFL and he was he was younger than the guy that kid that came out of Georgia a couple years ago. A
Nestor J. Aparicio 11:28
lot of that in the NFL, weโve had like, underage CJ Mosley was a young guy. Right. You know, Ray was a young guy. Absolutely. But
Leonard Raskin 11:37
in baseball, you know, to see him make the majors at that age is really unusual. You see him you see him in the minors, but you donโt see him push through that fast.
Nestor J. Aparicio 11:46
Obviously, three months ago, and one of the reasons you have to pay him back to your file. Exactly right. And listen, lord knows and you and Iโve talked about this and Iโm going to write about Mr. Rubenstein and my experiences with the Whistler and how Iโve been treated and how Iโve just Iโm not kissing anybodyโs asked to ask Mr. Rubenstein questions. He doesnโt want to answer anyway. Right? But on days like this when they take on salary, yet when they take on the outfielder that they didnโt need to take on and he just kind of weird is kind of weird. Itโs right but theyโre taking on money and taking on potential not in the way the Yankees have done it in a way that Angeloโs did it over you know, a pasta meal a Picacho given away hundreds of millions of dollars to the wrong baseball players. This is a whole different philosophical thing with how and listen I had munch on for an hour I had breakfast with him in Cleveland. Iโm in srimant out there how the Indians have handled their business. Theyโre called cheapskates. How the Blue Jays have handled their business how teams like Tampa sign Eflin get get the money into them, and then just turn them into a couple of players and dump the contract. Heโs good enough to get the
Leonard Raskin 12:56
Marlins do they even have two starters left? They got higher sales they got rid of everybody on the trade deadline they got rid of everybody. They they traded away I think a dozen guys
Nestor J. Aparicio 13:09
well in our case when you get one of their players and they go from that empty blimp where itโs 98 degrees every day in Miami. It nobodyโs there. Nobody cares. And then sometimes you fly into New York and you play a game with some people or whatever. But But moving from that to here that canโt that canโt work. But to help
Leonard Raskin 13:30
absolutely Roger your bank account got to pay Maryland state income taxes now All right, well hear you
Nestor J. Aparicio 13:39
you know what, but you can make it play off share Hey,
Leonard Raskin 13:41
thereโs nothing nothing wrong. My playoff share nothing. Yeah, thatโs right. If I get to hold that World Series trophy up, you can tax me all you want, baby. Iโm all for it. Well,
Nestor J. Aparicio 13:50
honestly, the expectations for you to say I met allies. I listen to Elias I think
Leonard Raskin 13:56
heโs wise. I think heโs doing the right thing. Heโs not irrational. Heโs heโs got it thought out. I heard him interviewed and he talked about why they did what they did who they picked. Itโs never happy never happy time to get rid of some great guys you know, young talent that youโre gonna get rid of, but they didnโt have a spot. They werenโt gonna get up to the big leagues. They werenโt gonna have many at bats. Maybe theyโll get a fresh new start. Somebody will look at him a new good for them. So and you still have the core of your top top draft picks and man, you know, like you said Westberg down. Mateo down. That was an Did you see that incident with Matteo? Yeah,
Nestor J. Aparicio 14:36
I mean, and then again,
Leonard Raskin 14:40
dude, I donโt know if you saw I posted out there on the social. Thatโs a hockey player to baseball uniform. Youโre
Nestor J. Aparicio 14:46
taking on football injuries. The last I mean each now. Right. But how about happen, you know, How
Leonard Raskin 14:50
about how about McCann? 95 miles an hour to the nose. gushing like a geyser under the batterโs box and And he says, I want to stay in the game. How do they let him stay? Yeah, he
Nestor J. Aparicio 15:05
concussion protocol, right is this
Leonard Raskin 15:07
is this not happening? But he did. He stayed in the game and he gave him badly for the second game and the rest of the series. But then to look at him that neck that night, the next day, dude look like a hockey player. I was impressed. And he had his nose all plugged up and he was gushing out the gauze and but he played I said, thatโs a hockey player, man, that game big respect, big respect. And
Nestor J. Aparicio 15:31
I spent so much time on Monday talking about the trade deadline and possibilities and relief pitching. We talked to blue and we never even got to McCann we got the MO on Wednesday after the trading letter Rascon is our guest Raskin global. Please go visit him empowering a see Iโm gonna rewrite your empowering people to choose their financial future. Iโm reading it right. Amen. Yeah, right. Right here. Itโs
Leonard Raskin 15:50
right, right. There it is.
Nestor J. Aparicio 15:54
For you with expectations. Yes. Seem Yes. Weโve talked so much about Mr. Rubinsteinโs money and itโs full tip of the cap to you as Mark Viviana retires. You were the one that was the scoop guy that told me last year, you were the first one to say to me, like remember, Rosebud in the incentives. He said to me, David, David, you said that to me last year, and Iโm like, Whoโs that guy? The guys like Steve Martin? The guy that runs a Kennedy thing? Yeah, like so. Now that we are where we are with that, and whatever profile heโs made for his ego and the arrogant he guy and the other money, whatever it is hedge fund manager, right? Whatever things they do remember how theyโre going to operate the baseball team how Katie Griggs, whoโs now been hired is going to operate the baseball team. You know, sheโs a search engine search, excuse me search firm hire, you know, from Seattle to work. Yeah. And Iโve read the interviews with their theyโll never let me meet her either. Or ask real questions. Your the level of expectation for the fans, when the weekend began, and the trading deadline thing happened and they got Athlon. And, you know, because it like sorry, for Anthony. I told Luke several times I said, you know, God bless my parents, my motherโs birthdays this week. And I said, but they really should have named me sir Nestor
Leonard Raskin 17:20
that I wanted to see how he spelled that. I didnโt know if it was sure. Anthony but itโs itโs not itโs seranthony Oh,
Nestor J. Aparicio 17:28
if they ever night people in Dundalk, maybe Iโll be maybe you
Leonard Raskin 17:31
get that maybe you get. The other thing I thought was really funny. This has nothing to do with the team playing but I was catching the broadcast with with Ben MacDonald the other night. And he was talking about the LSU Hall of Fame. Did you catch that now? Hysterical? They were talking about whether or not heโs in the LSU Hall of Fame. And he said heโs not because thereโs a rule at LSU that you have to have graduated. Oh, and he said he needs three more years. for that. He he mentioned. Oh, geez. Getting old did the basketball play back? No, no, not Shaq. Shaq went back and got his degree. Thatโs right. Good old days old days. The bearer of itch. Yeah. Is not in the MLS. I know a lot about sport. Right? Right. Oh, thatโs why I said it. But I couldnโt get his name. Heโs not
Nestor J. Aparicio 18:29
that Iโm like, Iโm not paying attention. Some guy talking amnesia about five years.
Leonard Raskin 18:35
But he does. Heโs not in the LSU Hall of Fame because he didnโt graduate. Wow. So So
Nestor J. Aparicio 18:41
think about all the other LSU great players that play football team. We had the knucklehead run around the wide receiver last year. You know we thereโs LSU said a lot of
Leonard Raskin 18:53
backlash. They did they have Shaq went back and got his degree. And Ben said it would take him three more years. He came out a little early. So they were trying to start a they
Nestor J. Aparicio 19:06
said hereโs one one he came out they said
Leonard Raskin 19:09
maybe maybe Mr. Rubenstein know somebody to change the rules. Get him to change the rules. But wow, itโs fun to watch his team. If theyโre hitting Look, I I will say this two games this year, two games were oh and two that I went to. Iโm just staying home all right, dude. Iโm staying home. Okay, why the game? I went with you last year. Yeah, thatโs true. But I just I was one and five last year.
Nestor J. Aparicio 19:37
Now that itโs really hot out there. Like it looked off double Wednesday, even though home run and whatnot. Itโs like I you know, and Iโm not. I did 290 degree nights and Cleveland in the pit sweating. I lost weight over the weekend. So like Iโm with you. But thereโs thereโs something about hot baseball and Iโm a little more princely at this point. Well, I It was a 98 degree day back in April when it was all fun. I didnโt really want to do it again. I had my
Leonard Raskin 20:05
sister. My sister lives in Jersey. Sheโs lived there for years, almost 30 years. And her kids are from Jersey. Theyโre born in Jersey because sheโs lived there. And my niece has a boyfriend who is a Yankee big Yankee fan. So we brought him in for the Yankee series. They came and we got some tickets. And so they were all in there. And theyโre pinstripes. And first time Camden Yards? Yeah, yeah, for my niece, not for the boyfriend. Heโd been here a couple times. But I was smart enough to get us. Third base side club seats in the shade in the afternoon. And we sat there and the whole game. All I could think was if weโre on that first base side cooking out there, I would have died. I felt like such an old man. You
Nestor J. Aparicio 20:53
know if if it starts to sizzle on it, yeah, itโs
Leonard Raskin 20:58
a little too high to watch. A little too hot. But itโs but itโs great watching. Itโs great. That
Nestor J. Aparicio 21:03
like our the basis of our friendship relationship was not Oriole baseball over the last 25 No, because we have a whole lot about ravens out on the field and Lukeโs out there now and they you know, Monday and Tuesday. They only allow him to go so when practice happens in the middle of the game or when Lamar speaks in the middle of a game or the ladder what you so itโs been really looks worn out and itโs Wednesday right? So but the Ravens thing has less oxygen certainly the last week with the trading deadline absolute thereโs nobody talking about the Ravens offensive line. Certainly like in the old days when old nasty, thatโs all there was for him is we be talking about the first preseason game like it matters. Yeah, like weโll be talking about it like it matters. It would matter a little bit because Lamar would come out and take six snaps right? Move the ball a little bit, right punt the ball, and we would be thereโd be 40,000 of us maybe down there so pretty girls in halter tops. And you know what itโs like the summer. They did. The preseason was always terrible. Itโs now complete. And so
Leonard Raskin 22:09
itโs a week away. And I havenโt even thought about it. The first games what the nights. Yeah, and I havenโt even like havenโt even thought about it. Itโs not even a thing.
Nestor J. Aparicio 22:20
Like worse than scrimmages. But baseball back when I taught for free the birds and Iโve raised hell and all that. This is whatโs been like gone. Is that like I built a career the first 10 years doing radio. Certainly the first 35 years of my life. 30 years of my life. July was always trading deadline we get better we get nicer off, he cry right away. You get David Wells. Letโs go sign Jimmy key. Letโs go make a deal and get fit in here and get Todd Zeeland. I mean, they they brought Eli Jimenez in the first thing I said to Luke Jones, like, Iโm gonna date myself now but he reminds me of Toronto borooah And then I realize thatโs 27 years. Right? Who knows that guy was 27 years ago a long time so long time ago, but we ought to talk about what are you what are you thinking about with football? whatโs known as a fan whatโs on your mind?
Leonard Raskin 23:09
I think Lamar looks damn skinny. He says he came in Lean. I get it. He looks really skinny. I mean, I guess heโs in better shape. Thatโs what he says but he looks really skinny to me. Iโm looking at going holy cow. Is this guy gonna break I hope he doesnโt break. And then in the next breath what I say to myself is this youโre gonna laugh at this at todayโs underpaid. Mr. How about these contracts? These owners are throwing around at guys that have never done anything. Sorry. never done anything and now weโre getting into baseball and NBA type stuff with big guaranteed contracts your quarterback with the
Nestor J. Aparicio 23:53
quarterbacks right now a job description franchise quarterback. Itโs not a position. Itโs not a performative itโs like saying youโre a CEO you all make $50 million. Thatโs right. Well, dude, Iโm the CEO of a lemonade stand and youโre CEO of Boeing. We got different we got different gangs. Yep. And I itโs the same game. But the proficiency level of it. Hey, I had much bishop on this week and I wouldnโt have breakfast with them at this beautiful place called Luckyโs cafe in Fremont had the most delicious scones and dinner breakfast dinner thing. So we got the talking about the browns and he like, really and heโs an old timer. 43 years on the radio. He chopped them like on the browns. He did the pregame stuff like that. He just said I donโt want anything to do with the Haslams I donโt want anything to do with the Deshaun Watson i This is gross. Theyโre immoral people and Iโm I donโt really want to push that anymore and Iโm done with it. And heโs just like more guardians now. Like I donโt hour long conversation. But like I was having lunch with them. Iโm like, you know, the ravens are throwing me out and itโs made me and theyโre gonna find this out in a couple weeks. Itโs made me more apt to think that they need more oversight and less fans. And in regard to the Browns like what theyโve done to their fan base, and by the way, like Joe burrows hair I know how much you hate Joe burrow. Did you see the Steelers cage match at practice on Where did you see the video? This?
Leonard Raskin 25:28
I have not yet but Iโve heard Oh my god.
Nestor J. Aparicio 25:31
I mean, it was like, it was like Tom was gonna jump in off the top row. The hellโs going on up in each robot bear? Are they drinking too many rolling rocks to make yourself? Clevelandโs over under six wins on them? Right Flacco is gone. Cincinnati. Do that kids a winter watch out for Joe burrow. But the ravens are perceived by everybody to be guaranteed. Derrick Henry getting off the ball. Absolutely. Absolutely. But the offensive line is the question. offensive
Leonard Raskin 26:07
line. Look, itโs the same thing. As always, itโs the offensive line. And itโs health. You got the offensive line. You got good health. There is no excuse for running the ball 21 Play calls in a row in the championship game against the chiefs. Thatโs all there is to it. I donโt care where youโre playing. No excuse. You got Derrick Henry. You got Lamar Jackson, you canโt lose that game again. And the bottom line? Weโve weโve discussed a little bit but this season doesnโt start till January. unless somebodyโs thatโs a hell of a thing to say unless somebodyโs hurt, right. They donโt go all the way this year. They failed.
Nestor J. Aparicio 26:46
By the way. We get to that point with the Orioles if something goes wrong, and they trip in, you know, and somehow Zach Eflin Fโs up game six or three or whatever, whatever. You know, like if it doesnโt go, I will be Iโm trying to the Phillies are good.
Leonard Raskin 27:02
Everybodyโs trying. And my thing about the Orioles though, is I want to see a playoff series win. Iโd like to see him go a little deeper. And if they got to the World Series, itโd be phenomenal. But these are still kids just figuring it out. And so I give them a minute. But if this ravens team doesnโt end up in the bowl, thereโs a problem. Thereโs a miss Thereโs somethingโs really bad. Somethingโs happened. Because thereโs no excuse. I donโt care who else weโre talking about. I donโt see anybody else with if the line is good and theyโre healthy. The season doesnโt start
Nestor J. Aparicio 27:36
here. The line is right now. Right thatโs thatโs thatโs true. And thatโs true with how much they have invested now in the skill position players whether itโs draft picks, whether itโs Bateman getting another year. Yeah, Andrew is just being paid to go get the ball likely went got the ball. They want to give the ball to Henry the thing that makes Lamar special are his wheels and they kind of want to not take that away from him because that toy but certainly donโt want to bail
Leonard Raskin 28:01
you out what a threat you got with him and Henry and you still have to keep for Mitchell is not key for whatโs his Teton Keaton my bed. My bed. Is he back? Is he is he okay, mid the end of the year? Is that what it is? Heโs out here.
Nestor J. Aparicio 28:15
I saw him. And not that I see practice. I saw a picture of him with a like, I know. Heโs
Leonard Raskin 28:22
not playing Yeah, heโs not playing No, not right now. Okay. So so you got to have a healthy Henry. And healthy levar you got to have a line stand him up. But Iโve said it I keep saying it. season starts in January. I mean, Iโm gonna go to games. Iโm gonna pay attention. Iโm gonna watch the NFL because I love it. But, but, you know, tell me how theyโre doing in January weโll sit down and have a conversation about the playoffs. And the Super Bowl if thatโs not here, they they blew it. They blew chunks
Nestor J. Aparicio 28:52
all the way Kiefer Mitchell came by the show at faders a different guy. Keeper and Keaton Mitchell I donโt know him but I know his dad right Anthony so heโs on the show to just you know simple 35 Hero Tennessee
Leonard Raskin 29:06
first politician was was a politician
Nestor J. Aparicio 29:10
this he used to say couldnโt write politician letter raskins here oh hi Iโm Nestor he could follow him somebody what you do with money this time of year every time people are you know this time of year you think well when a boat or I want to house in Delaware or I want to get rid of acid Delaware get rid of a boat or I want to place in Florida or when a place in Alaska? Yeah. Rockets electric cars in Canada. You know, you know whatever the deal is Harris
Leonard Raskin 29:36
gets elected you find a place in Canada or wherever. Portugal because you wouldnโt be safe here from a free from democracy. Well, you know, look, letโs face directions. Letโs face it, no matter when she wins. The
Nestor J. Aparicio 29:49
election is rigged. And stay in and bring all of us down. How about your Joe Biden?
Leonard Raskin 29:56
How much your home planet How about your home planet of Venezuela. Got a little crazy election going on there. But the bottom line is, itโs all dirty. Itโs all dirty.
Nestor J. Aparicio 30:07
Oh my gosh, this week and all these years can get along. Thereโs still peace for God hope for peace and Gaza. Thereโs peace in Ukraine. Thereโs hope for peace in the Mason Dixon Line, like all of that, but like to your point the Venezuelan saying, Well, you have an immigration this country to there been 8 million, 8 million I saw this. Yes, Venezuelans that have come to America. You know, my cousin was trying to get here a number of years ago and actually
Leonard Raskin 30:36
all for immigration. I just want it to be legal. Iโm not for the open borders. But the bottom line, letโs face it back to our money conversation. I
Nestor J. Aparicio 30:44
agree with that concept.
Leonard Raskin 30:46
Yeah, no, Iโll take you back to our money conversation. Iโll give you a quick history story back in 2016. So I, I may have relayed this to you once more. But I got a call from a woman who is a just a devout liberal, very liberal. She called me 30 days out before the election, Trump and Hillary, you gotta get all my money out of the market. You gotta get all my white why Trumpโs gonna win. I know heโs gonna win the market is going to tank weโre gonna have world war three, itโs the end of the world, I need my money out of the market. I say weโre not taking your money out of the market. Just not doing it. Itโs imprudent. Doesnโt make sense, the election really doesnโt have anything to do with it. The economy will be fine. Your stocks will be fine, everything will be fine. Iโm on the phone with her 40 minutes, half hour, 40 minutes. She agrees weโll leave it alone. She says to me at the end of the conversation. If this happens, Iโm moving in with you. I said no problem, no problem. A week later, I get a call from a guy like heโs, heโs right of Genghis Khan. Okay, this guyโs right way. You gotta get my money out of the market. You gotta get my money out of the market that Hillary wins, the world is over. She just start world war three, the history, you know, this is gonna be the most horrible place to live in the world, you got to get all my money out? No, weโre not taking your money out. Doesnโt matter who wins the election, your money is going to be fine. Donโt worry about it. Itโs what I do. So people think that every instance of who wins an election, Congress house Senate White House, that the world is going to end the democracy is going to fail, that the country is going to die that the economy is going to collapse, that the stock market is going to crash. And the big thing people need to do is get in the pool, calm down, cool off. None of itโs going to happen. None of them are dictators, none of them are murderers. Theyโre going to come into office, theyโre going to put forth their proposals. And hereโs whatโs most important, Esther, our taxes are gonna go up. It doesnโt matter whoโs in office, everybodyโs taxes are gonna go up. We are $35 trillion in debt as a country, weโre going broke. We borrow money to give foreign aid to get kickbacks to whoever gets them so that all the people in power in politics get rich. And all of us work our butts off to get by while theyโre getting rich. And the ones that donโt get rich are the ones that leave quit because they canโt stand the swamp. And they get out. Now, Iโm not saying the rank and file federal employee, Iโm talking about literally the politicians. So no, your taxes are going to be going up? No, it doesnโt matter who wins, no, the market will be fine. The economy will be fine. And ultimately, if youโre invested, youโll be fine. And if somebody tells you otherwise, run, donโt walk from them, run from them. And keep a cooler head and donโt worry about it. And and thatโs what we tell people and our job is I want to say 30% Science of money and tax and law and so on. Itโs itโs 50% Psychology. Iโm talking to people and helping them get through their lives and their money. So they can have the opportunity to go to I want to go to Ohio for a weekend and enjoy myself and I donโt have to worry about can I afford it? I want to go to I want to send my kid to I want to be able to help my parents with whatever it is and not Iโm stressed out about this and worried about this because guess what that just kills you. Stress about money is a horrible thing. Oh, thereโs
Nestor J. Aparicio 34:32
no question about that horrible and we work with people to itโs the heaviest thing in the world. I can say that as an absolutely sonar app. 10 years removed from ruinous awful things happening with my wifeโs health and, and internal issues. Yeah. Coming up on the 10th anniversary of thatโs my own freedom from going to bed. feeling like I was getting an ulcer, you know, thatโs
Leonard Raskin 34:57
right. Thatโs right. And so our job is To help people understand how to handle their money, so it doesnโt handle them. And we do it with entrepreneurs, we deal with executives, we deal with professionals, we help people handle their money. And the sooner you can start, the better your future will be. They say the best time to plant a tree is 30 years ago. Second best time is right now. Iโve meet Iโve met people for the first time in their lives in their 60s, Iโve met people for the first time in their lives in their 20s. And we help them all. And if we can relieve that stress, I sat with a couple just this past week. And I told them, theyโre going to be able to retire, theyโre going to be able to live the way they want. Theyโre going to be able to afford what they want. And theyโre going to be able to do for their kids, ultimately, what they want. And she said to me, Iโve never been able to see that. And it feels that she said the relief is is huge. And thereโs not a lot of people that can say that in our in our country. Thereโs a lot of people that donโt that are hand to mouth that are still checked to check. And so to be able to tell people and help people do that, thatโs what we do. So you never have to worry about it. And itโs the summertime and itโs time to make that happen.
Nestor J. Aparicio 36:09
Yeah, and that and an Orioles game and whatever plans or whatever your beach plans are, you know, I didnโt go away.
Leonard Raskin 36:15
Gunner Henderson allege a few bucks are good job.
Nestor J. Aparicio 36:20
Jackson holiday this right to the Grand Slam. For me this summer, there werenโt a lot of concerts and they all happened within 10 days. And I wanted to do all of them. And I got priced out of a cup of love Pac Man. Itโs hard, but it wasnโt a $200 night for each. Right? Yeah, a couple of foo fighters. We didnโt have the jam. And you know, I didnโt get to see sticks, but theyโre coming back. Theyโre the same night that Lake Street dive and Bruce Springsteen all the same night and pro James the night before. So like, thereโs just these flurries of concerts that you know, you canโt do them all even if you can afford them all. You donโt have the mojo to get in the car and drive to Hershey. Right. I fill it the next night. But I invested in my Ohio experience and you ever been to a concert at Blossom outside of Cleveland?
Leonard Raskin 37:01
I have not. Leonard, did
Nestor J. Aparicio 37:02
you ever go to Merriweather and like Yeah, sure. Oh, yeah, absolutely. What it was your first Merriweather concert give give me give me. God give me a marker on that. What timeframe? I
Leonard Raskin 37:12
have to go way back Did I did I see Def Leppard there one time? Probably. 88. Yeah. Thatโs not the first it was before that. It had to be before that. So
Nestor J. Aparicio 37:23
if you remember leopard nada. Yeah, sure. Never played there after that. No, no, no, no. Played again. I mean, no play. There was one time he was on. It was on the pyromania tour. It was on hysteria tour. You play one time I remember it vividly. And then they did the round thing on the adrenalized tour. And a friend of mine met his longtime girlfriend that night at Merriweather and Department of fun. It was the Columbia mall parking lot as I remember. There you go. Hi, Audrey. How are you? So nonetheless, there was Hammond. Hi, girls. If you remember Merriweather in that era, yeah, sure. Mid 80s. It was before they put any of the flank seating in the added flank ceiling at one point. It was three sections one bowl, straight back. It wasnโt two sections was one long and lawn. It was just blossom in Cleveland is Merriweather touch touched the lawn on itโs in the forest. It was made for the symphony. Itโs really like Akron. Itโs like North Akron. Itโs you know, which makes it 40 minutes closer to Baltimore. So like going out to see Dolby. Iโm like, oh, itโs five hours, not six minutes, only a little bit past Pittsburgh, Iโll get there. And I did two nights there did the ad show. And then I did the Sami show ad show was maybe four or 5000 people smallest gather, right. And then the Sami thing was off the it was just lovely. Now people have to leave early because every you park on the grass, and itโs out in the middle of nowhere, and nobody really lives anywhere near thereโs everybodyโs got to drive an hour to Youngstown. But
Leonard Raskin 38:56
thereโs a guy with a hockey mask. And
Nestor J. Aparicio 39:00
actually, thereโs really nice, young kids like your son that look like they have all the farm looking kids that are out there. And it was actually a beautiful, it was very Midwestern, and you know what Iโm talking to. Friendly, Midwestern. But but you know, I went out there and I thought, Man, this is like, weโd be like going back to Memorial City now Iโm nostalgic about your it almost brought a tear to my walked in there. Iโm like, Oh my god. Place feels like Merriweather. Like, I feel like Iโm at Merriweather, which gave me a little bit extra pep in my step because I saw the Thompson twins and Wang, Chung and I said, I said the burrito. Iโm like, Oh, I saw a Wang Chung and I saw a Thompson twins at Merriweather and at the ticket stubs to prove
Leonard Raskin 39:45
I know you do. You kept them all. Youโve got Chung
Nestor J. Aparicio 39:50
Wang Chung is underrated. As his men without hats. Men. What about the safety dance? No, they have to live and die in LA dancer but Wang, Chung, Letโs go baby. Letโs go. Absolutely. So weโre rocking. Let her ask it. Heโll rock your money and doing the baseball and the football and they said, so the kids gone to Ireland.
Leonard Raskin 40:11
No, no. 18 Okay, couple few weeks still.
Nestor J. Aparicio 40:16
All right. I like Ireland.
Leonard Raskin 40:18
A year and year and a half. I
Nestor J. Aparicio 40:20
recommend everything about Ireland except getting stuck in the airport with Aer Lingus trying to get to the rest of you.
Leonard Raskin 40:26
Yeah, weโre just going weโre going direct weโre going to I
Nestor J. Aparicio 40:30
donโt recommend short layover. Because you will, you will be putting a lot of gayness on your credit card. And you will have a hard time finding even an edible sandwich in the in the Dubliner donโt get tell your kid my my advice to him because heโs good with girls and money and heโs got you you know heโs even even better with his politics and Iโm with you. But just tell him donโt get stuck in the Dublin airport. I donโt think all right just tell him donโt let it happen. And heโs going there how many years? A year to 18 months weโre not sure exactly yet. All right. Well, Iโm gonna talk to the young man absolutely. You got to do at some point the Dublin Airport and Eric some crabs before we get to him because and when they do him dirty. He is letter Raskin will tell you more about a European adventure and our our excellent European adventure. Baltimore positive stay with us.
