Though under contract for three more seasons, cornerback Chris Carr expressed doubt in his future with the Ravens on Monday morning.
Despite starting 16 games at cornerback for the Ravens in 2010, the veteran saw his role diminish greatly in an injury-plagued season that forced him to miss seven games. Falling behind rookie Jimmy Smith on the depth chart and not offering much in the way of special teams, Carr was inactive against the run-heavy Houston Texans in the divisional round last weekend.
In speaking about the end to the Ravens’ season, Carr talked about next year’s team by using the term “they” instead of “we” and seemed uncertain when asked about next season.
“I might be here, I might not be here,” Carr said. “We’re going to have to see.”
Carr signed a four-year, $14 million contract that included a $3.8 million signing bonus in August before younger corners Lardarius Webb and Cary Williams cemented their status as starters for the Baltimore defense.
Rest for the weary
Linebacker Dannell Ellerbe suffered a sprained right foot in the second half of Sunday’s loss to the Patriots. The third-year defensive player was wearing a walking boot and using crutches in the locker room on Monday.
He underwent an MRI on Monday but does not expect the injury to affect his offseason training.
Right tackle Michael Oher suffered a right ankle injury that briefly forced him out of Sunday’s game when he was replaced by rookie Jah Reid. The third-year tackle was also dealing with a minor knee injury suffered in the divisional-round win over the Houston Texans.
Defensive tackle Haloti Ngata also acknowledged what many had opined in recent weeks when he admitted he was still dealing with the pain of a thigh injury. Though it’s unclear if it was one injury affecting Ngata, he suffered a thigh injury against the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 30 that limited him in practice the following week leading up to the Ravens’ Week 9 game in Pittsburgh.

Thinking about the future
The Ravens signed seven players to reserve-future contracts. They are running back Damien Berry, wide receiver Rodney Bradley, tight end Davon Drew, defensive tackle Bryan Hall, return specialist Phillip Livas, center Cecil Newton, and wide receiver Patrick Williams.
All seven players spent time on the Ravens’ practice squad this season. The signings allow them to train at the team’s Owings Mills facility and to participate in organized team activities and training camp.
