After the Ravens elected to wear their regular purple jerseys to begin the season on Monday Night Football two weeks ago, most assumed they were saving their alternate black jerseys for the Week 3 matchup with the New England Patriots.
Instead, the Ravens will wear purple again in a rematch of last January’s AFC Championship game on NBC’s Sunday Night Football. It remains unclear when or if Baltimore will wear its popular alternate jerseys this season. A team official confirmed the plan for Sunday is for the Ravens to wear their purple tops with white pants, which would mark the third straight week they’ve worn that uniform combination.
Baltimore wore its black jerseys against the New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers in night games played in Baltimore last season and had last worn their purple duds in a nationally-televised prime-time game against Pittsburgh in 2010 before the Monday night opener on Sept. 10.
Of course, the Ravens play their third nationally-televised prime-time game of the month next Thursday against the Cleveland Browns, but it would seem to be an odd choice to don the black jerseys in that one over the first two night games played at M&T Bank Stadium.
Following the Sept. 27 game against Cleveland, the Ravens do not have any more home games schedule for prime time, though that could change with the league’s flexible scheduling late in the season.
