Next week, it’s time once again at Baltimore Positive and WNST-AM 1570 for our 2nd Annual February “Crab Cake Row: A Cup of Soup Or Bowl Week” and we’d love for you to come by and be a part of it as we tell local stories and raise awareness for dozens of different charities, community groups. And, hopefully, you help us by bringing food and donations for the Maryland Food Bank locally through community food pantries that feed hungry Baltimoreans during the toughest weeks of winter.
All of those years of watching Jerry Lewis every Labor Day inspired us to do our own little winter week of local community, charity and storytelling magic in our unique Baltimore Positive spirit and way. So, I’m trying to pull together my 33+ years on the radio to create an annual event that lifts folks around us during the coldest month and right before Valentine’s Day. (And maybe lift some purple spirits when the football team doesn’t make The Big Game!)
Last year, I did the marathon of live radio with great results – but a very fatigued and beleaguered host by week’s end!
So, this year, because I’m getting old and tired, we’re keeping it simple: Noon ‘til 5pm every day around town. Taping, not “live” and that makes it much more fun for me and better for everyone! No stress…and I get to visit with guests and listeners, readers, friends and anyone who wants to say hello!
We’ll be serving up the very Charm City local “A Cup of Soup Or Bowl Week,” which will feature free Maryland Crab and Cream of Crab soup at all five locations, from noon ‘til 5pm in exchange for listeners, viewers, supporters and soup lovers bringing a box of canned goods or other non-perishables on behalf of the Maryland Food Bank. And hanging out and having some fun as well with the live show on site and all-day chats and good mojo.
So, come and donate and you either get a cup of soup, OR a bowl of soup – get it?
Here is the schedule (noon til 5pm daily):
Crab Cake Row: A Cup Of Soup Or Bowl Week:
MONDAY 2/3: Costas Inn in Dundalk
TUESDAY 2/4: Faidley’s Seafood at the New Lexington Market
WEDNESDAY 2/5: Koco’s Pub in Lauraville
THURSDAY 2/6: State Fare in Catonsville
FRIDAY 2/7: Kooper’s North in Timonium/Mays Chapel
If you’re unfamiliar with the Maryland Crab Cake Tour set, it’s always in a restaurant and always includes great food, cheer and conversation and is made possible via our partnership with the Maryland Lottery (yes, you get a free scratch-off, too) and Weis Markets. Here is link to a bunch of previous episodes at Baltimore Positive.
We also plan to feature all of the segments again on the air at WNST-AM 1570 and to be available on the web in vignette form sometime later in February to re-promote the totality of the “A Cup Of Soup Or Bowl Week” via Baltimore Positive.
Thanks for taking the time to consider joining us next week.
And come and have a cup of soup! Or Bowl…
Cheers,
Nes
