EPISODE 229: Broadwater takes us from Healthy Holly and City Hall to Congress

Because we haven’t been able to sit down and eat a proper crab cake at Faidley’s at Lexington Market or have some chicken and waffles at State Fare in Catonsville with our guests, we have been doing one longish episode rather than our customary three shorter blocks of conversation.

Journalist Luke Broadwater is fresh off of a Pulitzer Prize win at The Baltimore Sun for his coverage of the Catherine Pugh Healthy Holly scandal. He began a new job this week covering Congress for The New York Times. We have been patiently waiting to spend some time with him and ask about the state of local journalism, Save Our Sun and his future on Capitol Hill.

Given the current state of America in the aftermath of the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis and protests on our streets and throughout the world, we will be focusing on race and the future of modern policing moving forward in many of our upcoming June episodes. Reverend Al Hathaway, Ben Jealous and Barry Williams are all coming soon to Baltimore Positive.

Clearly, we voted this month. And we hope you voted, too!

We will have a lot of reaction to the elections in the coming days and weeks.

We are all in this together and this is a time to educate, unite and keep each other safe. But we also have some extra time to read and learn and educate ourselves in many ways.

We will continue to produce high-quality, intelligent conversations with thought leaders as our citizens try to readjust to this pandemic during the summer at Baltimore Positive.

Please subscribe to Baltimore Positive and stay with us.

We’ll try to keep you cool.
