The Ravens have finally announced five additions to their 2022 coaching staff, a list headline by retired Baltimore linebacker Zach Orr.

Orr returns to the organization as its new inside linebackers coach after spending the 2021 season as Jacksonville’s outside linebackers coach. Of course, Orr played for the Ravens from 2014-16 and transitioned to a defensive assistant role after the discovery of a congenital spine condition forced his retirement in 2017.

The 29-year-old will be entrusted to continue the development of 2020 first-round pick Patrick Queen, who will now have his third position coach in as many seasons. Orr replaces Rob Ryan, who recently joined Las Vegas as a senior defensive assistant after one season in Baltimore.

“Having previously played and coached for the Ravens, Zach has first-hand knowledge of our culture,” head coach John Harbaugh said in a statement released by the team. “He understands the standard of defense we strive to uphold. His knowledge, passion and communication will have a big impact on our inside linebackers.”

Former Miami assistant George Godsey is Baltimore’s new tight ends coach after Bobby Engram — who had been with the Ravens since 2014 — departed to become the offensive coordinator at the University of Wisconsin. Godsey coached the Dolphins’ tight ends from 2019-21 and received a promotion to co-offensive coordinator under former Miami head coach Brian Flores last season.

Entering his 12th NFL season, Godsey also served as Houston’s offensive coordinator from 2015-16 under former Texans head coach Bill O’Brien. He began his NFL coaching career as an offensive assistant and tight ends coach for the New England Patriots.

“George has a proven track record coaching some of the NFL’s best offensive players, especially at the tight end position,” Harbaugh said. “He brings a wealth of knowledge, energy, and experience to our staff. Tight end is an integral part of our offense, and George is someone who will help our group continue to play at a very high level.”

New outside linebackers coach Rob Leonard also comes from the Dolphins and replaces Drew Wilkins, who followed former Ravens defensive coordinator Wink Martindale to the New York Giants under the same title. Leonard spent three years in Miami as the outside linebackers coach (2021), assistant defensive line coach (2020), and linebackers coach (2019) and spent the first six seasons of his NFL coaching career as an assistant for the Giants.

The Ravens hope Leonard can help Odafe Oweh blossom into a high-impact edge rusher after he guided fellow 2021 first-rounder Jaelan Phillips to register 8 1/2 sacks last season.

“Throughout his NFL career, Rob has coached many impactful defensive players,” Harbaugh said. “He’s a strong addition to our coaching staff, and his experience and knowledge will certainly benefit our outside linebackers. I’m excited to see how he helps our unit work to compete at a dominant level.”

Harbaugh also announced Mike Devlin as the new assistant offensive line coach working under Joe D’Alessandris. Devlin replaces Richard Angulo, who left to become Jacksonville’s new tight ends coach after spending eight years on the Baltimore coaching staff.

The Ravens also hired Ryan Osborn as a defensive quality control coach. Osborn was a defensive analyst for new Baltimore defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald at the University of Michigan last season after previously coaching the defensive line at Tennessee-Martin in 2020 and serving as a defensive graduate assistant at Florida (2018-19) and Mississippi State (2016-17).

In a move announced later Wednesday, Baltimore promoted Anthony Weaver to assistant head coach. The 41-year-old interviewed for the defensive coordinator job last month and will continue to serve as the defensive line coach.
