We can’t say that we’ve ever had an oyster fritter. And certainly never on savory french toast covered with a perfectly poached egg glazed in scrumptious velvety Hollandaise. Day 4 of The Maryland Oyster Tour took Nestor to Hampden and the absolutely divine oyster fritter and eggs Benedict at The Urban Oyster on The Avenue for Sunday brunch. This might’ve been the best thing we tasted on the tour!

The king of Pie Style in Hampden, Hot Rod Henry of Dangerously Delicious Pies crosses town into Dundalk to serve Nestor and his pal Bill Yerman some 25th Anniversary Pineapple Right Side Up Pie at Drug City. Rock and roll, dive bars and the perfect apple pie on the road were on the savory menu.
The fifteenth day of the Maryland Crab Cake Tour presented by The Maryland Lottery, Goodwill, Window Nation and the Restaurant Association of Maryland featured a bit of a wild card and last-minute detour to a pair of great places in Baltimore City. The Food Market was a strong #JennStrong selection and Checkerspot hit the spot as a rare “open on Monday” brewery in the region. We’ll be heading back to Hampden to explore the rest of that incredible menu.
