In the aftermath of Jennifer Aparicio's miraculous survival following a second bone marrow transplant, we were inspired to do a second "Night of Heroes" after leukemia survivor Chuck Pagano came back to Baltimore in 2015 to raise money and awareness for There Goes My Hero and the power of swabbing to save lives. If you missed one of the great nights in Baltimore vs. Pittsburgh sports partnerships in May 2016, you can relive it by watching three Super Bowl winning head coaches on one stage for a great cause. This was also the last public appearance of former Ravens president David Modell, who had some very important words, as did Super Bowl XXXV champion James Trapp, who also survived leukemia. A powerful evening.
It's been a rough week in Baltimore. We remain thankful that The Piano Man and the great Stevie Nicks came and sang to us. Even if the traffic was a nightmare.
Dennis Koulatsos takes Nestor downtown for the Ravens unlikely win over the Broncos and strange atmosphere as Lamar Jackson goes down with a knee injury and Snoop Huntley saves the day.
Hall of Famer Jerome Bettis brings Nestor some fresh air and thoughts on the departure of Big Ben in Pittsburgh and how the cities are always in battle and the rivalry never dims. Not even to watch Cincinnati.
With the promotion of Jackson Holliday and the emergence of Colton Cowser and Jordan Westburg to go with the already-arrived Adley Rutschman and Gunnar Henderson, the Baltimore Orioles are loaded. It's the dawn of a new day of Orioles baseball. Luke Jones and Nestor discuss the maturation of Orioles system and the solid start to season despite some obvious pitching deficiencies.
Our Maryland Crab Cake Tour returned to Faidley's in the new Lexington Market with another extended chat with former Mayor Sheila Dixon, who tells Nestor why she wants to lead Baltimore again and ways that our city could improve.
Outfielder Colton Cowser struggled in his first MLB assignment last year but has begun the 2024 with a torrid pace leaving manager Brandon Hyde with some tough decisions on playing time for Austin Hays. Our Luke Jones joins Nestor to evaluate this young roster and ways to continue to utilize the bench and the potential of big bats from blue chip prospects.
