I won’t pretend to tell you how great Keeler was considering he finished his playing career in 1910, but it would be downright irresponsible not to recognize his hitting streak that was only eclipsed by the legendary Joe DiMaggio’s 56 in a row that has never been seriously challenged since it was set in 1941.
Keeler was one of the driving forces behind the great Orioles clubs of the 1890s that won three straight National League titles, and his amazing hitting streak and 2,932 hits were more than enough to land him in the Baseball Hall of Fame posthumously in 1939.
