4. Jim Palmer never allowing a grand slam in his entire career (1965-84)

Of all the Hall of Fame numbers posted by Palmer in his brilliant major league career, it still feels impossible to believe he never allowed a grand slam in 558 appearances spanning 19 seasons.

For perspective, fellow Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan holds the major league record for grand slams surrendered with 10 while 2001 All-Star pitcher Chan Ho Park gave up two in one inning to Fernando Tatis in 1999. His 268 wins, 2.86 career ERA, and 211 complete games certainly provided more than enough Hall of Fame credibility, but Palmer’s ability to avoid the grand slam only adds to his mystique as one of the greatest pitchers of all time and certainly the best in Orioles history.
