There’s really no other reason to remember a corner infielder who spent one year in Baltimore and had 822 plate appearances in his major league career, but Manto landed in the history books by homering in four straight official at-bats from June 8 through June 10, 1995, tying the major league record.
Manto would hit 17 home runs in his only season with the Orioles, but his three-day stretch in June lands him on a list of players such as John Stefero and Dave Criscione who gained their 15 minutes of fame and just as quickly burned out.
