The always fun Ravens scratch-off super prize winners made their way to frosty Cincinnati where even the famous chili was chilly but as Doug Lloyd of The Maryland Lottery tells Nestor, great seats, a big win and a wild adventure with a flat tire made a Cumberland memory. And everyone was a big winner on the flight home with the team from Kentucky.

Doug Lloyd from the Maryland Lottery discussed the Ravens scratch-off contest, where winners get to travel with the team. Last week, winners from Aberdeen and Cumberland joined the Ravens in Cincinnati, despite cold weather and a flat tire. Doug called winners, including one who won $5,000. The Ravens provided $1,000 and a $250 Visa gift card to each winner. Doug also mentioned the Harlem Globetrotters promotion, offering VIP experiences and a chance to win a trip. The Powerball jackpot is currently $1.25 billion, with recent winners in Clinton and Lanham.

SPEAKERS

Doug Lloyd, Nestor Aparicio, Speaker 1

Nestor Aparicio  00:01

Welcome home. We are W, N, S, T am 1570 Towson, Baltimore. We are Baltimore, positive and positively wishing you and your family, everybody happy holidays. Whatever you’re celebrating. I’m celebrating kill Boston, sauerkraut from deep pasquale’s Because I did the Maryland crab cake tour there last week. It’s all brought to you by our friends at the Maryland lottery. I had a handful of these Raven scratch offs that we’ll have at Costas on Thursday. I just got the word the Gina shock had a little issue. She can’t join us on Thursday, but John Allen will be there. Friday, we’re going to be at gertrude’s at the BMA with Dan Rodricks and John Hoey from the Y Monday, I’m gonna work off all these crab cakes and eggnog and damn cookies I’ve been eating now we’re gonna be at Planet Fitness in simonium, new location there, I’m going to rejuvenate and rehydrate and get ready for Santa to come down the chimney. By then, I will have candy cane cash scratch Austin. I’m going to visit Roz, who I hope is feeling better at the Maryland lottery. And I have a rare visit from Doug Lloyd. Doug Lloyd, if you’ve followed the journey. Or sometimes it’s John Martin, sometimes it’s Seth Elkin. Usually that’s a Pittsburgh week, or a week with Pittsburgh’s been beaten again. That’s not this week. Doug Lloyd is here because he drew the I don’t know if it’s a lucky straw in your building or not, but once a year in this crazy ravens scratch off contest, you have winners that actually get on the plane with the Ravens fly off sometimes. Roquan Smith brings cheesecake. I’m not sure that that happened last week in Cincinnati, but Doug Lloyd is the guy who actually calls these winners, and hopefully you’re one of them, and says, I’m Doug for the Maryland lottery, and you’ve won, and then they hang up on you, right? Doug, that’s sort of your gig, right?

Doug Lloyd  01:40

That is exactly what happened last week. I had a couple hang ups. So, you know, I’m used to it. I don’t try and take it personally. My trick is I usually call them right back, because I figure a scammer doesn’t do that. But, you know, it works out.

Nestor Aparicio  01:53

8

So you call them back and then what do you say? This is a second choice. What do you say? How do you do it? This is really the Maryland lottery. Check, check your caller ID, right?

Doug Lloyd  02:01

Like, I just have to say, I think we got disconnected. How much money

Nestor Aparicio  02:05

did you give them last week when they hung up on you the first time? How much money were you

Doug Lloyd  02:08

trying to handle? I believe that was $5,000 so that was one of my winners from the holiday scratch offs. We’re doing weekly drawings, and there are four winners that win 5000 each week. And then, of course, at the end, we’re going to give away $50,000 and a trip through our Chicago prize warehouse.

8

Nestor Aparicio  02:26

Well, I like Chicago. I worked in Chicago for pretty much, you know, I have to ask you, you’re, are you an old school Baltimore person? I mean, yeah, sort of kind of my age. You remember dialing for dollars in the morning? Oh, for sure, yeah. You know, channel 11, they would call, and it’d be like, for $5,000 pick up the phone, pick up the phone, pick up the phone. We’re calling. That’s one ring. That’s remember this. I haven’t thought of this in 40 years, but I’m thinking, that’s you. That’s what you do. So with the Ravens fly away winners that went to Cincinnati last week. There were a handful of them, and I have some pictures. We’re gonna have a little bit fun. And you got to know them. And you got to know them. You literally were the lottery emissary that met them on the special tarmac at PWI, around the back gate, around the side corner. And then you get on a jet with all the players. They Eric, the cost, everybody’s there, and sort of a short flight to Cincinnati would have been better in Vegas or San Francisco. You you get more cheesecake on a longer flight and the coldest day in the history of the franchise, but a winning effort, and the pictures look cold. Doug, I’m not gonna lie to you. I mean, how did this go for you? But do you call those winners? I mean, you do, right? And say,

Doug Lloyd  03:35

you do? I do, yeah. And I had the same reaction from from all of them. I certainly have been talking up the podcast, so a lot of them are probably going to be tuning in. Yeah, we call them up. You know, one of our winners was from, see, we had one from Aberdeen area. We had one or, sorry, yeah, Aberdeen, we had one from Cumberland.

Nestor Aparicio  03:54

See, they sort of know you’re not a scam, because they know they played the ticket. They know they entered the second chances, and they they went to MD lottery, so they sort of know they’re in it. So when they hear from you, it’s, you know? I mean, maybe they’re they think it’s a scammer, but they would think my buddies don’t even know I’m in the contest. You know what? I mean, like, you don’t tell second chance I might win. I think they’re stunned when you call them, right? And they’re like, oh my god, I entered and I really won. Wow, right?

Doug Lloyd  04:24

8

Yeah. Well, you know, a lot of our players, they do enter multiple of our contests. So, you know, when they, when it catches up to them, they might have forgotten about entering, but you know, they can always go to the website and see their name there. And, you know, I always encourage people to be as hard on me as possible, because that’s, that’s what I’m there for. You know, a scammer is not going to put up

Nestor Aparicio  04:45

with it. I You say, go to empty lottery. Go to this website. Your name’s on it right now. And that’s sort of that. That’s like, okay, okay, you’re the real Doug Lloyd.

Doug Lloyd  04:53

Call my operator and see if I’m legit, you know.

Nestor Aparicio  04:57

So you call these folks back, like, late summer, early. September, and say you won, right?

8

Doug Lloyd  05:02

Yeah, these folks, I believe they won around. I think it was October, October. Okay, yeah. And you know they were, they were excited our Cumberland winners. I did not expect them to really want to make the trip in here to Baltimore, but they came to visit and had lots of questions. They were not

Nestor Aparicio  05:19

drive to Cincinnati from Cumberland.

Doug Lloyd  05:23

Well, you know the funny story about our winners from Cumberland, both our winner and their guests never really flown before, so, you know, I think there was a little apprehension there, and that’s okay. We’ve definitely gone through that before, but I’ve

Nestor Aparicio  05:39

8

had scared flyers, friends of mine. And it’s, yeah,

Doug Lloyd  05:43

the only negative with that is that the Ravens will completely spoil you for regular flying. It’s, you know, it’s a different it’s very easy to get through security. The food is not something you’re going to see on a regular airline ever. And of course, the atmosphere is completely different. So, it

Nestor Aparicio  06:01

nice hotel. I like downtown Cincinnati, you know? I mean, it’s nice in Cincinnati downtown, yeah.

Doug Lloyd  06:07

So, I mean the storm, the storm definitely changed. It snowed Saturday, right? Yes, yeah. And I heard that snow in Cincinnati, although, you know, you think it’s a little further into the middle of the country, and it just doesn’t snow that often there, according to locals. So what they did get, even though it wasn’t a lot, it did shut the town down quite a bit.

8

Nestor Aparicio  06:30

Well, Doug Lloyd is here. What is your official role, other than the guy that people hang up on when somebody wins a really big prize and you call them from the lottery,

Doug Lloyd  06:38

that’s a long description, so they just go with Second Chance drawings manager,

Nestor Aparicio  06:41

okay, he’s a second chance drawings manager. And if you want, if you ever buy lottery tickets, I’ll be at Costas this week. They have a whole thing, enter second chance, get download the app. I mean, this whole segment is about what happens when you really get lucky and you win an experiential prize. And listen, nothing wrong with five grand, nothing wrong with a million dollars or so. We gave a little that away this week, too. And $1.25 billion up for grabs right now. Powerball for me, for me with this, it’s the experiential part of a handful of people, somebody that’s never flown in Cumberland, somebody in Aberdeen, I’m sure one or two of these people had a whole closet full of purple right? Because when people buy these tickets, this is the most popular ticket you offer in any given year, the Ravens second chance, probably the most entered contest. Might be the hardest one to win, because there’s so many people in it when they win. You know, this is, Listen, I’ve been 27 years. I went on the road every week with the ravens, cold, warm. This was literally a week when I thought it’s good to not be me because it’s five degrees and it’s Cincinnati or there. But great game, they played well, and I’m sure these folks had an experience unlike any other, because it’s not like going to a raven game at home. You’re getting on a plane, you’re going with the team. I mean, it’s a trip of a lifetime for anyone who’s a Ravens fan,

Doug Lloyd  07:59

8

yeah, yeah. And you know, our, our other winners are winners from the Aberdeen area. They, you know, they, they make our scratch off tickets, sort of a family ritual. So the mother that went along as our guest on the trip, she’s a bookkeeper at a local church, and her daughter and her father come over on her break time, and then they catch Pokemon, and they scratch scratch offs. And those scratch off tickets are what sent them to Cincinnati. So they have a little fun pastime. They get together, and it paid off big too. So they got to go on this wonderful trip. They are big Ravens fans. We also had another group of winners, somebody who had played some ball in high school. So he was, you know, reliving some of those memories. That was William Lee and his son, Nate, got to go along when they stepped onto the field there in Cincinnati. Just, I mean, it brought them back immediately.

Nestor Aparicio  08:56

Well, I’ll tell you what Doug Lloyd is here. I got pictures if you’re watching out, because Doug has sent his, this is his real this is, you know. So you know, they’re professionally unprofessional. They’re to me, I know exactly where that is. That’s in the lobby of the Westin down in front of Fountain Square. I’ve stood in front of that exhibit. They bring that out of Christmas every year, right? That’s right. That’s right. And big escalator there at the bottom, and the team busses Right, right out in front, right, I’ve been on this trip, yes,

Doug Lloyd  09:24

yeah, yeah, excellent. And this was right off, right off the busses. Here we had a long bus ride from Kentucky. You know, the snow was coming down heavy. And, you know, Kentucky not too far away,

Nestor Aparicio  09:35

Covington is right across the bridge, is what I know, you know. So, yep. So this is, this is on the field. How cold were you? Doug, I need to know, how cold were you? These folks are smiling. They don’t She’s not even wearing gloves. I mean, it couldn’t have been that cold, right?

8

Doug Lloyd  09:51

I think they wanted to have their hands handy for their phones. You know, I try. You can see my glove made it into the shot here.

Nestor Aparicio  09:59

No. Nice, nice, and all the controversy about the snow that didn’t get shoveled in the in the stands, I bear witness to this at pay core stadium, that the Brown family did not shovel the seats correct.

Doug Lloyd  10:12

They did not know they were not out there with shovels. They didn’t pay anybody to do shoveling. And the fans were letting me know that this franchise just not really interested in spending extra money.

Nestor Aparicio  10:23

8

Tyler loop there, warming up there. You got to warm up when you’re the kicker, I’ll tell you that right now. So you guys, you were clearly there really early. And oh, look at is that your seat?

Doug Lloyd  10:34

Yes. Phenomenal.

Nestor Aparicio  10:37

Yeah. Oh, wow. Man, those are good seats.

Doug Lloyd  10:41

Doug, yeah, and you know that was the fun thing is you could see the Ravens make a killer play and then come off the field. And you know, it’s just fun to see both both ends of that play football out of the deals. What happened here? Okay, so this is a game ball. This was presented to Alan. Now, Alan missed the flight.

8

Nestor Aparicio  11:00

Okay, hold on me. Stop the music. Well, he missed the flight.

Doug Lloyd  11:04

What he missed the flight to fly with the ravens to Cincinnati, so he didn’t get to go. Ordinarily, that’s what you would say. He would not get to go. So we made the call from from there, he had caught a flat tire in Hagerstown, so he’s on his way. This is the Cumberland fellow. This is Cumberland.

Nestor Aparicio  11:21

Oh, man, I want to fly him somewhere.

Speaker 1  11:24

8

Now, he’s never flown. He’s never flown. He got a flat tire flying. No No

Doug Lloyd  11:29

word on whether the flat tire plays into him not wanting to fly, but flat tire he was going to miss the flight. We made some calls, and they said, if he meets us there in Cincinnati, he gets to rejoin the trip, and that’s exactly what he did. So he started his trip from from Cumberland, drove in the snow, drove in the snow, to Cincinnati, arrived at 1015 that evening.

Nestor Aparicio  11:54

Oh, man. So a long drive, and he didn’t fly back either, because he had his car

Doug Lloyd  11:59

exactly, exactly the Ravens were so impressed with his drive to get out here Sunday night, which makes it even worse, exactly. So he, you know, he drove there, and they were so impressed with this. Sashi Brown came to meet him on the sidelines and said, We got to put you on our logistics team.

8

Nestor Aparicio  12:16

So, so he got there in time for the game. He went to the game. Give me the experience of like players and on the plane. And I mean flying backs a happy plane, when the defense pitches are shot out and they score 24 point. Like the whole story is being with the players and being around it after the game and all that, seeing them when they went, Hey, I’m telling you, I’ve been on the plane when they win and they lose, losing is different than winning big time. Yeah, it’s a big win. Too. Big game.

Doug Lloyd  12:46

It was. It was certainly a very happy plane on the way back. You know, lots of whatever they had, they canes chicken. I think they’ve switched from Popeyes to canes on the plane. I guess that’s a big update. All right. You know, we’re celebrating with a lot of food, you know. I think I’ve seen the some of the Instagram lives that have been going around here. Lamar with his Pepto pink pullover on the plane, some exciting stuff. And of course, our players very excited about to warm up and to enjoy this win.

Nestor Aparicio  13:17

All of these folks want a lot of money too, right? In addition to the trip, right? Yeah, they

Doug Lloyd  13:21

8

got some spending cash. So they got $1,000 and then I think, you know, to go along with some of their fan activities, the Ravens threw a $250 Visa gift card towards towards them to enjoy their trip. Nice.

Nestor Aparicio  13:38

All right, well, I’m Hey, the dude that had to drive in. I’m thinking, with the snow, maybe he’d spend the night, get a room. He had a few bucks to be able to do that. Maybe, I don’t know, grab a stake somewhere downtown. I think it’s Cincinnati. I got to sing the WKRP song. My wife and I were watching Bailey quarters and Dr Johnny fever a couple. Yeah. Well, when your name’s Nestor, you you get the Les nestorman treatment. For a long, long time. I am not les Nestor, and I’ve never won the Buckeye news award. When the Doug Lloyd is here, he is the second prize manager of something who calls people and they hang up on him because he calls as you won. Have you called anybody? Like, recently, 100,500 I mean, like big time numbers, or is it usually five or 10 grand?

Doug Lloyd  14:23

It’s usually five or 10 grand. Occasionally they give me a very large prize. But, you know, I think our unlock the cash, we’re pretty big. That was a fun interactive element. And then, you know, coming up here, we’re going to be giving away some great trips. I think on the points side of things. We just kicked off a new thing with the Harlem Globetrotters. That’s a new $2 ticket. So just yesterday, I actually had some folks here. What’s happening is the Harlem Globetrotters are on this anniversary tour, and they’re going to be sending some folks to a anniversary tour date here in Baltimore. It’s going to be. We’re at the Chesapeake arena. We’re giving away premium seed experiences, and of course, one lucky fans gonna win our There you go.

Nestor Aparicio  15:08

2003 a guy named Mark fine, who now works for the Baltimore Orioles, brought curly Neal into my studio to sit with me for an hour to talk about the Harlem Globetrotters. So clearly, I was delighted to have curly Neil in the studio. I also had met metal arc lemon. I told John that when this Harlem Globetrotters promotion came out, so Doug, I was the little boy in 1973 7475 and Rodney, Allen, Rippy and goose Osby and metal, arc and curly Neal were coming to the arena.

8

Doug Lloyd  15:44

They were everywhere. You know, I was telling Keith, Keith mills and the guys that you know I I know the Harlem Globetrotters. I got to see them play when I was a kid. But I also saw them on Scooby Doo they were everywhere.

Nestor Aparicio  15:56

Oh, they were cartoon eyes. They were on the Wide World of Sports. I bothered my dad so much to take me down to the Harlem Globetrotters. And he did, and I was so disappointed when I wasn’t the kid like on the bench that got the confetti bath. You know what I mean, because I was five. But I remember vividly being at the Baltimore Civic Center 1973 seven. I had a program like I had to program all of my childhood. I mean, I had, it was a big, big thing for me to go see the Harlem Globetrotters when I was a boy, and I think I told curly Neal that when he was in my studio 22 years ago. So the Harlem Globetrotters, that’s kind of a neat living. It’s neat to do Jurassic Park promotions or things like that. Or, you know, you always have branded things, the different monopoly, different things. But like, the Globetrotters are a living, breathing thing that I think all of us have touched at one point in our lives, if you like basketball at

Doug Lloyd  16:44

all, right, and to live that, that fan experience that you wanted to have, somebody’s going to win a VIP experience, they’re going to sit on the team’s bench. So that is, that is a really cool thing that’s at the very

Nestor Aparicio  16:55

8

the names of the current guys. And I know curly, you know, and metal arc are no longer with us, but it’s still a thrill anytime you get to participate with the Harlem Globetrotter. I wonder what pranks they’re up to that I haven’t seen Nick new kind of pranks. I mean, their thing was always the trick shots, which was, I mean, they were doing, you know, I guess what Steph Curry has made the NBA. You know, long sharpshooting was, it’s there were unbelievable basketball players.

Doug Lloyd  17:21

Yeah, yeah, to be able to pull off the skills of a professional basketball player and the trick shots, amazing, amazing. We always make

Nestor Aparicio  17:28

sports in here, you and I. Man, we get a little football, a little basketball in here. Doug Lloyd’s here, let’s talk jackpot, because my wife, she’s out of town, but she’d be pulling making it rain. $20 I got to go buy some tickets. Chance to win 1.2 5 billion. We’re getting up on like top five, right? Ever jackpot, right?

Doug Lloyd  17:47

Yeah, it’s very high. And you know, for us, the big thrill is not only the jackpot, because that that certainly gets people’s attention, gets the blood pressure up a little bit here, but we’re starting to produce a lot of second and third tier winners. This is actually where we wind up seeing most of the fun stuff here with our Powerball jackpot. So we had $2 million winners, and I actually wind up doing a lot of work with the the district area counties and so Clinton. We had Clinton and Lanham coming in big with a million dollar win with with our one of our recent drawings here, and then we have a series of winners that won $50,000.02 winners of $150,000 so it’s really a fun time to play. And if you’ve got a ticket out there, make sure you’re checking your ticket, because not everybody wins the jackpot, that’s for sure, but there are a lot of big winners all around the state.

8

Nestor Aparicio  18:43

My wife is guilty of this, like, she’ll buy the tickets, and she’ll wake up and she’s like, she talks to me about she’s not here right now. She’s Christmas with her family. Actually going to Quebec this weekend, having a good time and speaking French. But she’ll come in and say, Illinois, Texas, yeah. She’ll name the state that that wins the jackpot. And, you know, she doesn’t rip the tickets up, but they’re just wherever she put them in her purse or whatever, and then she’ll find them five weeks later, and then she’ll here, give me your phone. She’s got the app now she downloaded on her own, but she knew I had the scare. Hey, by the way, did you see my hokey video from Koco’s? Oh, so I had, back when I did free the birds in 2006 I had a friend who made the video. He wasn’t a friend then, he’s a friend now, and he was my guest. And we’re doing, like, chatting at Koco’s, and we’re doing our thing. And two ladies that I had given Raven scratch offs to came up on the set while I’m, like, doing the show, and they wondered. They thought they had won. They weren’t sure if they had won. They were trying to figure how to play the game. And like, like, I think I won there. And I’m like, Oh, hang on. So I have the empty lottery app, and I scanned it right there on the show. She won 20 bucks, and then her girlfriend had a ticket and thought she won. She came up. And she won five bucks. So I had two women that dined together with Koco’s. They both got winning tickets. I don’t know what the odds of that are, but one, 120, 115, right in the middle of the show. And I did the scan

Doug Lloyd  20:11

just to be able to capture that moment, no to capture

Nestor Aparicio  20:13

her celebrating, or she was dancing over my shoulder when she won 20 bucks. And I’m thinking, when you call somebody tell me they won five or 10 or 50 grand, they don’t believe you, but that’s what makes you got a great job, dude. You got a cool gig, right? Calling people and having to be mad at you when you’re giving them money, that’s awesome. Well, nobody’s got a job like yours. That’s a unique gig.

Doug Lloyd  20:33

8

And I used to interview some of these winners too. Back Back at the edge of the pandemic, we were just coming out of the pandemic, I had two young ladies that were in an office, and they had a little scratch break ritual, and for whatever reason, they were recording it. And we got a nice recording of somebody scratching off a winner. Totally unexpected, you know, somebody would probably say staged or AI at this point, but really happened, you know, captured them in their office. They won a big prize. And they were, they just fell out. It was, it was a lot of fun. And, you know, hey, if you guys have a scratch break and you want to roll your camera, we would love to see that footage, because it is very unique to see that happen to somebody. Totally unplanned

Nestor Aparicio  21:15

little things up on YouTube. I cut it out of a, you know, 50 minute conversation I was having, and it was fun, and we had to get them. So you sent me a picture of Alan Pryor, correct this fellow from Cumberland. That is him. Yeah. I mean, hold on, pull his picture up, because, like, he he didn’t have a picture, and said We thought he went to Cincinnati. He was on the sidelines.

Doug Lloyd  21:34

Right, right. Yeah. We were snapping a bunch of photos when we first started, and we’re gonna have a nice group photo from the from the Ravens coming. But I didn’t get a lot before, because, you know, the gloves went back on. Allen here. He’s the one that got presented with this game ball. So they had heard about a

Nestor Aparicio  21:51

rocky gap hat on too. I loved rocky gap. I did my crab cake tour out there. Fantastic part of the world. I love Cumberland too. So shout out to Cumberland everybody. You know, I got friends out there.

The Ravens got a game ball together for him, signed by Ozzy Harbaugh, and let’s see who else Asahi, okay, yeah.

Nestor Aparicio  22:11

Well, you know, you can’t do better than that. So people really win when they play the Raven scratch off game for the Maryland lottery. People really win these Second Chance prizes. People in Cumberland really wouldn’t get flat tires and drive the Cincinnati in the snow. So roquan Smith didn’t bring anybody cheesecake this time.

Doug Lloyd  22:28

No, no, he was, yeah, he was delivering only hits during the game. So you know what? We’ll satisfy with that.

All right. Well, and chicken fingers on the way home. Chicken tender so on. You know, I’m all I’m all for it. Doug Lloyd is the second prize chance Second Chance prize manager at the Maryland lottery. Happy holidays to you. I hope you get some eggnog and a crab cake. And all of our our wishes come true here. Santa comes down the chimney.

Doug Lloyd  22:52

Yeah, well, and for all of our viewers, I hope they get some nice wins. You know that they play responsibly. And of course, holiday raffle, they wouldn’t let me out of this room if I didn’t talk about it here, if you pick up your raffle ticket now, before December 21 you got two chances to win early bird drawing for $50,000 then the very, very big January drawing, where we’re going to draw for a million dollar winner, several $100,000 winners and more than 10,000 winners of other prizes. So a lot of information with that. You can head to MD lottery.com for all the details on the holiday raffle.

And it doesn’t have to be my family that wins the 1.2 billion. It’s as long as somebody in Maryland and you and Martin have to get out of bed at midnight and run out to some gas station in the middle of finksburg or something like that. I want somebody to win the jackpot in Maryland.

Doug Lloyd  23:44

Is that fair? That is fair. I mean, there are no restrictions on where you have to be a resident to buy one of these tickets. But we’ve got, I

hope they’re not from DC or Pittsburgh, and if they are from Hagerstown or Cumberland, maybe they can just be Ravens fans and not be fans of the they’re in the way right now. You know this dog? That’s why I had one, Elkin around here this week. I said, you know, this is not a good week to talk to him when they’re on a winning streak and we’re playing catch up. But it is. It’s a fun football season. It really has been. And my homework for John Martin is to find that picture of me with Meadowlark Lemon. And all I remember about me and metal arc lemon is he didn’t smile in the picture, and it broke my heart. I’ve only got two pictures with celebrities where they really didn’t smile at all. One was metal arc lemon, who didn’t smile, and I don’t know why, because I was trying. He’s metal arc lemon. He was the smile king. And the other one, and you’ll appreciate this. And I did meet her at seven o’clock in the morning. It was kind of cold. We were on the back stretch at Churchill Downs at the Kentucky Derby about 25 years ago. Was a long time ago. I was a little heavier in the picture. Maybe that’s why she didn’t look I look across. It was cold and it was early in the morning and it was Bo Derek. Oh, and I took a picture. With Bo Eric. And apparently this is a boderic thing. She doesn’t look at the camera when she takes she’ll take a picture with you, but she gives the side look.

25:08

She gives the profile. Well,

Nestor Aparicio  25:12

she was a perfect 10 according to Dudley Moore. That’s all I’m saying. So but I’m going to find the Meadow Lark lemon picture. And here’s what I’m going to do. I’ve been studying AI Doug. I’m gonna make him smile in the picture. I’m gonna take the picture and say, make metal. He had such a nice smile too. I don’t know why he wasn’t happy to meet me. All right. I met him at Martin’s West. Was a long time ago, but I love the Harlem Globetrotters. So, you know, be careful. You don’t always want to meet your heroes. I will say this currently, Neil spent an hour in my studio, gave me a basketball and was lovely. So there. How about that? Yeah, Harlem Globetrotters contest is out there as well as 1.25 and growing billion dollars. I’m having fun. It’s the holiday week. We have great conversations on the air at am 1570 we’ve had unbelievable crab cake tour stops deep pasquale’s Last week, we’re going to be at Gertrude this week. Leivovich: On the swamp and racket of The Big Game and bad government

"It's the best book ever written about the modern National Football League," so says Nestor about Big Game. And that's why we love having its author Mark Leibovich back on when his New England Patriots proudly return to Baltimore for some playoff knockout style football. Now with The Atlantic, the longtime political insider for The New York Times is also heavily immersed in Trumplandia and weighs in on the ongoing Epstein saga and the usual D.C. shenanigans.

Hail, hail Halethorpe! A Honey of a spot to shoot pool, watch the game and taste fresh flavor

This stands as a warning to anyone who invites Nestor by their place for the Maryland Crab Cake Tour: you're an invite and a taste away because he's en route to meet more great local folks who want to promote their business. Owner Soo Mi Kang of Honey's in Halethorpe invited us over and must've known that offering "Crabby Toast" would invoke the legend of Charles Markwood Eckman. Competitive billiards, great food and the game is always on at this old-school joint on the south side.
